I've been playing online for a couple months, mostly micro 9 man stt sngs. Since I started playing, my br normally increases at the beginning of the roll and sustains for awhile, but eventually disappears. Any advice? What do you all do with suited connectors early, and do you play them if re raised pre flop on the bubble? When playing in live tournaments, if your getting crap cards do you fold a lot?
Thanks

What size br are you working with?
What limit are you playing?

TBH from EP, fold small sc. You are oop and although they usually play well post-flop (when deep stacked which sng's generally are not, standard to begin with 75bb max I believe if 10/20 w 1500 start stack) in multiway pots IMO you are throwing money away due to the increased chance that you are going to be facing a LP raise. I play them now and then, sometimes limping if I think there is a chance of a cheap flop or opening to show strength from EP, as with all things poker everything is very situational so it depends on many things.

If you decide to play them and reraised pre again it depends, did you limp did you raise which position is the reraiser in, were there other limpers, are there more people to act behind you etc? Generally you will face more aggression towards the bubble if there are regs at the table that know how to utilize the various stages of a sng to their benefit.

Live/Online doesn't matter, if you are getting crap cards your generally folding a lot but it depends on the cards/position etc.

Although this is somewhat of a vague response, but slightly vague questions given no details and would be easier to answer if you had specific HH perhaps as an example. Hope it helps some and there will certainly be lots of information on the forum you could make use of as well to gain some knowledge especially in the stt area as some threads have been popping up lately (its currently going to be my focus as the thread in my signature below indicates).

bankroll management and assuming you are a winning player your BR shouldn't disappear. How many buy-ins are you using for the limits you play?

Don't play suited connectors ever when re raised and certainly not on the bubble. SnG's come down to late game play, post some hands of your tournaments you have played.

I've been putting in the minimum of $25 and playing 1.10 sometimes 2.20 and 0.2/0.4 cash games. Thinking about putting in more, but if I'm losing that amount I don't want the same thing to happen if I started at $100 or more.

Thanks for the tips, I play suited connectors every once in awhile and get lucky sometimes, but its false hope most of the time.

Unfortunately I can't find my hand history where I play. I will post some if I can figure it out.

Hi chief, which site do you play on?

Anyhow, essentially 25$ is not enough to follow a good brm for even the 1.1 sng's which is the smallest you likely have available. At the very least my suggestion would be 50bi minimum for an stt limit, that would be agressive in my brm plans as I am looking to grind them on a 100bi rule and depending on how they go might lax it to a 75 bi rule to see if could move up stakes quicker once I have enough volume to prove I'm winning long term.

You should certainly not be mixing in 2.2$ games unless you are up around the 100$ mark, mixing them at the 20-30$ mark you only have like 10-14 bi and as horrible as it seems its possible to go on a loosing streak of not cashing in that many (should be more difficult single tabling but still possible IMO).

For cash games 20 bi is something many follow, very aggressive brm for cash I think but even at 20 you would need a min of 80$ to be rolled to play 4nl buying in with 100bb stacks.

If you stick with a brm suitable for you and your br based on some rules, and could easily follow higher bi rules for more padding, then as ram indicated it shouldn't be dissapearing as long as you are a winning player.

I play on carbon. Ok, I'm slowly building my br back up but still low, if I lose it I will probably start at 50 bi for 1.10.

with suited connectors early - raise/fold, and if re raised pre flop on the bubble you may call in 40% of situations (<3bb re-raise, 3bb + better to fold), also if you have middle stack - you fold more re-raises, and if top 3 - call

Couple of thoughts, as I play tons of single table SNGs and have for years.

If you are only getting crap cards, be patient. A nice thing about SNGs is that you are rarely completely out of it, so there is no point in playing a doomed hand and donating chips to someone. Suited connectors are better played from late, but if you can see a flop cheaply from early, go ahead and play them. In some games, there is a lot of limping early and you can get away with it. If you get re-raised, your next move should be based on your read.

Not sure what site you are playing on, but 1.10 and 2.20 SNGs can be a bit like free rolls, in that a lot of guys go kamikaze. Move up to 5.50. The games are a little more pure at that level. That assumes that your $25 deposit is not your last $25. Also, stay away from turbo games. They are fun, but the faster the game, the more you leave up to random chance.

A single table SNG is different than a MTT or cash game, so your approach needs to be different. In general, play tight early in a SNG. Guys getting knocked out is like winning chips - your situation improves. You don't have to be in a rush to double up.

Play tight at the beginning , also play your best hand properly to get max value but most likely you won't get much action, players at these sng usually wait it out till their in the bubble, sometimes if you have patience just like the above user suggested you won't have to do much work and will make it to the bubble. Then Use your skills, bluff technique etc, watever works for you and play aggressive in the bubble. Well atleast that works for me. Not every time but most of the time. I know for sure it's boring as hell in the beginning when your are not playing turbos , to fix that I usually play 4 tables one time.

Also I don't play suited connectors in the beginning unless it's a good connector like Ak suited and it depends on position too. If get reraised in the bubble preflop , to play it or not it depends on what suited conn your holding and what position you're in. IMO if you're in the bubble with a suited connector and get reraised I would fold. Firstly I won't raise with any and all suited connector I would probaly raise with AK or Kq suited but will still fold this sometimes if someone re raises, depending on stack size. Once again position is very important in the bubble, you can successfully carry out a bluff on the button or steal blinds easily on the button if played properly.

Sorry I don't know all the pokerterms or how to explain it properly , hope you get the idea of what I'm saying.

That is really online poker. At first, its good then after a while, its bad. For suited connectors, i play them if its cheap. I dont play them if someone raises. For crap hand, surely has to be folded both online and live. Goodluck.

Thanks for the replies. Since posting this and adding to my bankroll I've been winning and placing more than before, especially the last few days. I will see how it goes the next week and probably add to my bankroll to play 2.20. Playing for an hour or longer just to get knocked out 4th or even 3rd kinda sucks with 1.10.

Your bankroll dissapears because you dont respect it. You are probably a novice player ( Im not bragging OR offending you ), but when you know how good or bad you are playing you need to use that knowledge to determine what limits you will be playing. If lets say you think you are a novice player you would want to put your money into a tournaments that you have 100 buy-ins for. If you got only 20 dollars and you play 2.20 SnGs if you hit a losing streak you will lose your bankroll in 10 games, which is pretty much do-able. If you find yourself still learning to play poker you would want to bring as little portion of your bankroll as you can to one table. You need to play tournaments that have lowert buy-ins but big enough prizes to matter to your bankroll. And thats how you will be fine. I Believe that its way faster to build a BR on tournaments, SnG or with Guaranteed prizes, than it is playing zoom poker or reg. cash games.

Try bringing 1 to 3 % of your bankroll to the table and see if it holds up on the long run. Good luck and have fun.
