I tried searching the forum and also the forum about HEM but I didn't find anything so far on the subject.

So here I go, I just downloaded HEM and everything is working perfectly, now the question is : when playing at a table how many hands should I play before beginning to rely a bit on the stats from the HUD ?

I realize it is pretty newbish for a question but well... I'm a newb at HUD soooo...

TIA,

ARU

well it depends

post flop stats like check-raising the flop or fold to c-bet and stuff like that takes a bit longer to converge then things like VPIP and PFR

but you can get a general idea about a players pre-flop tendencies in around 60 hands (obviously not totally reliable but like i said its a general idea of how they play)

but as for post flop stuff i couldnt tell you how long it takes maybe someone else will but its def more then with pre-flop stats

That is a remarkable post.

I concur. :)

Also, if using HEM, there are tutorials on interpreting the stats which are available on the "Articles" tab within the program itself.

I understand many players use these kind of programs.

Does it give you a real edge over players not using one?
Is it worth investing the cost for one?

Thanks

If you play ring games, and especially if you multi-table, it is extremely useful.

If you play only one or two tables, or mainly MTTs, the value is less clear. However, in the latter case, you may still benefit significantly from the facility to carry out post-game analysis of your own play and to identify weaknesses in your own game. Many of the programs which feature a HUD also have that capability.
