Hey, I am sorry if I come off as a lame pokerstars fanboy.
But really, if you are a new player and doing freerolls to learn the ropes, what you should do is try to qualify for the PSO Premier League.

The qualification tournaments are quite bad, but once you get in, you will experience poker with much better opponents - 4 tournaments every day. For free! Only hook is that they demand that you make 20 FPP per month to be a member.

The reason I post this is also that we have a [old link~tb], where the league players hang out and discuss our (mis)fortunes. Please post there also if you are trying to qualify, it's a cool thread!

This sounds cool, shame I don't really have the time to play MTTs these days :(
Are they turbos?
And what kind of prizepools?

Well the Prize pool in the PM league is 30K monthly, while the Prize pool in the Open is 12K monthly....The PM league has 2 different levels to each prize pool...So 1 is for those that make say 150vpps per month, another is for those that make 20vpps....Same Qualifications are demanded in the Open Leagues also....Yet the Open league has a player field of 100K or so, while the PM league has 1500 players....It goes on a Point system....So in the PM league with 150vpps if your 1st place you are getting 5K and so forth and so on....Now Before You get your hopes high, the thing about this is to gain entry to the 5k Prize pool you must make 150vpps, now say you have 20vpps and take first place in the PM league you only get $500....Now in the Open league taking 1st place with 20vpps gets you $1500

"just sayin' " 'if' we're near top of leaderboard... don't we just make a deposit & get the freak'n 150vpp's required for bigger prizes? (or do these vpp need to be earned in prior month?)
Lookin' at those juicy prizes, I've pondered playing in it but I think I've played two of them now & man.... it was just soooooooo bad. I suppose it'd be good for developing patience tho.

To clarify for outsiders: he is talking not of the premier league, but the open qualifiers. Those, non-surprisingly, have the same low quality as the Hubble satellites.
The bonus of qualification to a new player, to repeat myself, is a lifetime of daily tournaments with far better players - for free.

I'd 'assume' the bonus is getting to play for the leaderboard $'s. I actually brought a couple of 'premier' league tables up on my screen, to watch the play in late levels.. & imo it was still REAL bad. (obv. far better than the qualifiers or hubbles, etc., but for a comparison... I'd say a CC game is about 10x better play).

Yes the pay for each game is $10 and yes I've made the Monthly Leader boards for the past month in the old league+New League on a Regular basis since March....Last month I was in 25th place over all but ended up finishing top 100 and I still got $20 for it...The money as all things in Stars is Top 5 heavy so that's where you normally aim to finish....But $20 level is Really simple to reach and for that you just need to be in the top 200 or so..

Hope this helps out:)

This might shock you, but there are actually players out there that are worse than you. Or maybe you are just trying to stress that only players at your own level and higher should be allowed to play poker. Either way, i don't see how your posts are helpful to any new players.

My posts were for players who are 'new' to thinking of playing in them. Also so that they don't get their expectations up.... thinking they'll be playing on tables with players who play well.

For a 'new' player who just started playing nlhe mtt's, sure it'd be a good spot to start out at (better than Hubbles obv.).

Does this help to clarify?

PO, I am with you on that I played like 10 of em and the level of play just makes it not worth my time tbh even though I won a 20 dollor prize. I really think they need to make it a buy in for me to play with any regularity. In other words if you have a poker roll not worth it and if you dont then maybe it is.

Sorry but I don't understand this attitude with "Oh yea but I got a roll so I don't give a **** about your freeroll tournament, I only want to play tournaments with entry fees".

Well, good for you that you are rich, but why bother to come here to harass the freerollers? I don't get it. How come you guys have so much free time on your hands?

The only point of these threads is to give a tip about a freeroll tournament to players that are looking for freeroll tournaments. It's a very simple concept when you think about it; I am perplexed as to why this is a problem to you.

Well said Cista. Freerolls if nothing else help develop speed poker skills and then there is the free money for doing what - playing poker. Frerolls allow me to build a decent bankroll without ever investing any of my own money. Final point - one of the aims of every poker player is that you become so famous you get free buy-ins to major tournaments - in other words for you - a freeroll.
