Had a good night. Here's why...(Limping, PFR=VPIP, & smaller buy-in)

1) LIMP with marginal hands instead of folding.
2) Bet aggressively to protect (TAG)
3) PFR almost every time I played.
4) Smaller buy-in (50bb instead of 100bb or 150bb)

1) Remember this thread, and this time I walked the walk for a big payoff. Table is passive. Lots of limping. I am sick and tired of missing 2 pair flops, straight/flush draw flops, b/c I didn't spend the $2 to see the flop. This time, if I was in middle to late position, and it limped to me, I'd limp in. Implied odds. I'll gladly play 50 hands for $2, b/c I will make up that $100 on ONE good hand where I hit a flop big. This worked great yesterday, where I flopped 3-4 monster hands for $2. This only works on a passive table. I folded all junk to any raise. But for a $2 limp, I went for it.

2) I also bet large to protect my hand. If I knew V was on a draw, I would bet POT sized bet. To force him out (or overpay to call)

3) Also, for the first time ever, my PFR was close to my VPIP. I raised almost every hand I played with a good starting hand. This is easy in theory, but very hard to do in practice.

4) How did I make this adjustment? I decided to decrease my buy-in. Everyone says you should buy in at 150bb to maximize your profits. Well, you need to have some balls to play aggro TAG b/c one beat means the night is over. So, I decided to buy in with only 50bb, with 2 more re-loads. I never needed to reload, but was ready to raise and shove. I was willing to bet since I had 2 more buy-ins, and knew the night would not be over if I lost the hand. This tactic will help develop proper aggressive habits for when I do play with 150bb.
