Here is my final hand in a tournament in which I really, really wanted to make the last 5 (49 started.) Question is, was my all-in call a mistake or not? Was this just bad luck? Or am I still a dope?

I ran the hand history through the hand-convertor but can't post directly from there. Please let me know if this in in the wrong place or if I've posted it wrong somehow. I can't see any guidance about where Hand Histories go.

I can't understand all of the Hand conversion (below) but it went like this....

I'm in the BB with 12 BBs. Betting goes Fold, Fold, Raise to 3BB (good player, stack a little bigger than mine) , Fold, Fold, Raise to 25BB all-in (Good player on the Button)

SB folds and I call 12BB all-in with KK. 1st Raiser folds and Button shows AKs. The board comes down makes Button a Flush and I am out the Tournament.

Was I right to call or is this a beginner mistake?

Any advice much appreciated.

Steve

I think there's no mistake. With 12BB and KK, the best situation is to get in preflopallin with some1. :)

20-25 bbs, depending on tournament structure and how the table is playing is my line of willing to get it all in preflop with top ten hands. I don't necessarily push, but am willing to go with the top ten hands. At 12 blinds and kk, this is an automatic all in unless its a satellite or double or nothing type payout where there is a microstack that is almost out.

At 100 big blinds KK is automatic. With 12, its extra automatic. NH sir.

Is that right? It is folded to the BB? The action before the flop doesn't make sense to me. What am I missing. Regardless this is an easy all-in preflop. Not sure what went wrong for you...but ship it next time too :ridinghor

It has to be botched because it says folds prior to BB...then BB raises and we jump past CO to button who pushes, THEN back to the CO folds..then the Hero CALLS from the BB right before the BB FOLDS!!????

So yeah, no mistake there, the pf action is totally fubarred big time

You had him dominated, even if he had AA you still made the right call.

Like I said above I didn't get the Hand History myself but it came from our own Hand Converter so I posted it here in case it was just me who couldn't understand it. Glad it wasn't :)

And thanks for all the support. I'm still fairly unsure about a lot of things at my stage.

You had him pretty dominated when the money got all-in. Nothing you could do about the board.

If I got AA or KK preflop, I'm raising and reraising until we're going all in or my opponent just calls.

Because you are pretty much short stacked, I think it was the right move.

Always be willing to get your stack in pre with KK. Sometimes villain flips AA and sometimes you get sucked out on but that should never keep you from getting it in next time too.

As stated there are some exceptions(Satty in which top 30 pay you are in top ten on the bubble. Ok to fold KK here.

That is very hard question.
Only disconnection could make me fold that hand.

You should rarely fold KK pre flop... The only situation I can think of that you should fold is if you have a huge stack on the bubble and another guy who has you covered in chips shoves... just fold your way to the money
