a couple of situations where it can be advantageous to use a min-raise:
. You have a monster, you know that the opponent is weak, and min-raise is the maximum you can get.
2. You have a very aggressive opponent who will probably think min-raise is a sign of weakness, and you actually have a strong hand. Then min-raise is a trap and you hope for a reciprocal re-raise.
3. You have the winning hand (the senior full house, four of a kind), and there are many loose callers someone's original bet. Then min-raise can be a good way to disperse the Bank and each of the callers will add to the Bank the required amount, not knowing that he has no chance to win.
