Hello,
So my question is this : when playing at at 6 person table compared to 9 person table, should i loosen up my play a bit more because I am not playing with as many cards at the table or should my range stay the same? Thanks

You should definitely widen up your opening range but after the flop there isn't so much difference between 6-max and full ring.

Like nearly all things in poker post flop is too situational to make concrete suggestions.

I agree that you should loosen up your range at a 6-max vs. 9-max. 6-max tables basically eliminate early position and position is more important than almost any other factor. Also, in a 6-max the blinds are coming around much more often, making it harder to beat the game (especially at micro stakes) if you are too tight. Conversely, 9-handed tables mean you have to get through more villains from early position, so your hand strength and read on your opponents needs to be better. Gl out there!

Poker247, which would you say is better for beginning players--6-max or Full Ring?

I prefer 6 players :)
In fullring there is higher chance of someone getting better cards than you, basically :)

yes you will have to loosen way up playing 6 handed. It takes some time to get used too. I don't really like it myself but good luck

As everyone has already stated you definitely have to loosen up at 6-max. Also 6-max is very aggression driven since blinds come around much quicker. While you should be an aggressive player at both table you should be even more so at a 6-max.

You should definitely widen your range while playing at 6-max table (doesn't matter your position at the table), but, you should also widen your range in late position while playing at a full ring table.

The simplest way to think about it is that there is no EP in 6 max. Look at UTG in 6 max playing the same as MP in 9 max

U need to open your range quite a bit as your hands are stronger against less players. I read in a poker books years ago. ( you'll see players playing kinda like maniacs and there actually playing correct at a 6 max table). Now I don't completely agree with that but definitely agree to open your range a lot.

You have to play quite a bit looser as the number of players at a table decreases.

You can relax your standards when there are fewer players. Some players like 9 and others prefer 6. While there are more players against you on 9, the pots can often be larger. 6 players are much faster to deal with.

I prefer to play 6 player tables simply because there is a lot more action. With people widening there ranges, there are a lot more plays to get involved in.

I would say that as fewer people are at the table, as more aggressive you should play. Because playing aggressive gives you a (let's call it) "stable" chip income and if there are fewer people on the table, that means that the chips also are fewer (5 stacks), and being aggressive takes them faster than in a 9-people table (8 stacks)

If you are playing in low-value games and are prepared for it (having studied ...) I advise you to play 6.

You'll play more hands, playing more hands and being better than your opponents on post flop I believe this is the best choice.

9 usually has a better payout structure.
