Hello :D,
thats my first post in these forums and a pretty noobish one :)

So, im learning poker from the past 1,2 months and after a string of nice
beatings i decided that i want to play only 6-max tables and follow this
guide here.

I learned that table positions consists of EP,MP an LP so these nicks like
UTG or SB are confusing me, especially when in the above guide the
positions explained are only 5 out of 6 (BTN,SB,UTG,UTG+1,CO).
BB is missing or SB its actually Small-Big?

I'm also using bill chen's formula here and here for calculating my play and there the positions are described as EP,MP,LP...
It helped me actually and im planning to use it or even combining it with other guides.

So my questions are:
  1. How to convert the 5 nicks above from cardschat and around the world forums into EP,MP,LP again from around the world forums as close as they can be (strictly for 6-max tables)?
  2. Why's BB isnt covered in the above guide, thus leading to 5 positions?
So much of a first question :D
thanx

1. I wouldn't worry about trying to convert EP, MP and LP to the 6max seats, just find a good 6max starting hand guide and use that to begin with.

2. The 6 seats in 6max in order of acting preflop are UTG, MP, CO, BTN, SB, BB - BB isn't included in the starting hand chart and that's why there are only 5 positions. BB is in a unique position because you are never open raising from there (there will always have been limper/s), and starting hand charts indicate which hands you should be open raising with from the different positions. If you are BB and players to act before you have limped I would recommend raising 3bb + 1bb for every limper with the starting hands you would raise with from MP. If your hand is worse than that then check and see the flop.

Hope that helps :)
