I'm starting to notice that my i play better in a 6 handed game than a 9 handed game. I find i can read hands almost perfectly 6 handed. I don't think it's just blind luck i actually am doing quite well. So what does everone else think or prefer???

in my humble opinion, tighter you play, 9 handed or multi- table you play. if you like to all in more or make more semi bluff, 6 handed is better

I like 9 handed games you seem to get bigger pots when you win. The bb dose not come around as much you get more time to wate for good hand to play. 9 handed is better for tight player 6 handed is better for lost player

With six-handed, the blinds come around quicker so it's like adding an artificial ante to the game. You'll get chipped down quicker, and take that with less opponents that can beat you and you can let your starting standards come down a bit.

With nine-handed, you have to refine your game quicker to make a profit. Spend a lot of time at both so you can develop reading bigger tables, because you won't find many tournaments that cap at six players a table.

I like 6 handed myself. Alot of people say 9 is better because you get to see more hands in between blinds, but as rocket said you have to play alot tighter against 9.

6 max is more about isolating weak players, while full ring is about beating the weak-tight field. Full ring is a bit more reliant on your actual cards, however, full ring is a much more steady income than 6 max.

I can play 9 tables (the max my site allows) of full ring fairly easily, and just grind up a steady profit. 6-max I prefer to play 4-5 tables max, and the swings are bigger.

And yes, you can play looser when you're playing 6max, but not by a whole lot.

It just depends on a couple of things imo. If you are buying into the game with a lower amount of chips, try the 9 man tables. However, if BR is not an issue when buying in (and hopefully it isn't or you shouldn't be at those limits) then you might want to try the 6 man tables. I prefer less players but that is just me.

6 all the way, relative to time I find I cash out far more from 6 handed sng's. I would only play 9's if you finish 3rd alot :icon_cycl

I prefer playing on a 6 table because i think that the odds of you having 2 great cards favor you.
What i mean is that by reducing the number of partecipants, the propabilities of you having for instance AA or AK raise.
Another reason is that you could come to know the others much easier. It's easier to remember other 5 people carracteristics than 8

yeah personally, i feel as if 6 handed games are better online. its different live obviously but my main game play is better at 6 handed tables. through this play, your odds also increase which could potentially hurt you, but i like better because i find 9 handed is either a hit or complete bust

You would play better with 6 players anyway because a "weak ace" such as A5 has more chance of winning than it does in 9 handed because you are up against less cards.

I tend to find that if you have less players its a bit more normal when playing because you have less chance of someone calling your all in. ;)

6 Handed

I also prefer 6 handed. I like the faster pace and the possibility of getting better cards. It also allows more freedom to play less tight and bluff more successfully. Of course those benefits work the same for anyone at the table. It's just a matter of observing the other players and learning who you can and can't try to BS.

It is quite possible that your style fits better 6 handed than 9. 6 handed is more action, looser play, more bluffing and bigger pots on average.

9 handed is a more passive and tighter game.

Of course, these are all generalizations, but my point is that your play-style probably fits 6 handed more than 9 handed.

I play 9-handed . I avoid 6-handed cause I play very loose and I lose . Back in time (also), when I was playing on Full Tilt 6-handed rush poker , I was losing a lot of money . Now it's in my plans to try and learn to play better in order to attempt again the 6-handed cash game in the future but above all/mainly to play some 6-handed sngs

When I started, I played 9 handed. It was OK for a beginner, as I played tight and unimaginatively. I now play 6 handed and prefer it. I think short handed play favours better players.

I prefer 9 handed, as the payouts seem to be better, but I used to play 6 handed too, and was ok. I guess you need to try both and see which suits you better. :)

I like six handed more as well and I never play nine handed cash games (although to be honest I almost never play cash games at all). There is more aggression as you pay the blinds more and you don't have those stupid first three positions. Nine handed seems to be more popular tho

I prefer 9 handed, bigger pots, you have more hands to choose from and you play more until you reach the bb and sb ...

I think the 6-hand tables are more comfortable for the players who play a little bit looser. If you play tight or super - you will be more comfortable on the 9-hand tables.

I much prefer 6 handed. There is much quicker action and clearly much less middle position decisions.
