its pretty hard to read players at the micros because 99% of the time they don't even know what they are doing lol I wouldn't worry too much about reads in the micros, just play straight ABC poker and don't bluff much. If you try to get reads and overthink hands in the micros its going to lead to trying to make fancy plays that just don't work well against players that know nothing about poker strategy.

I know a guy who sticks to the $1 45's on Stars and seems to do quite well in them.
Personally I HATE pokerstars micro buyin SNGs but probably from losing 20 in a row on there, lol (does sharkscope have a symbol for that?.. like, super loser tilt? or maybe just a whole school of fish leaping out of a fish bowl).

Way to go on sticking it out and building your roll. It's not the easiest of things to do, despite what many might say. You are definitely a part of the minority. Keep it up!!;)

Very sensible approach you ar adopting but SONIC is right you will get hit by bad beats so dont get upset and try to step up too early. There is a school of thought that thinks the bad beats reduce as you go up because they are better players. This is correct but the difference between the $1 and $3 is non existent.

Like Dorkus said, it's about time they came up with a good idea for once.

Keep up the good work ruff, gl paying the micros, when the bad beats start endlessly-just stand, find another table and try again. if it persists, try another day

Thanks, I cant believe the price thes folks pay to chase a flush got hit 4 times today. so it looks like it is gonna be a slow climb. As for the differnce between 3.40 and 1.20 ya its huge with my bank roll at the moment. Thanks for the info on the play though. still grinding awaw at about 70

do they have those double up sit and goes still on Stars ?

I was able to get $10 up over $100 winning like 17 out of 20 double or nothing sit and goes, but that was last summer, I dont play much on stars and I am not sure if they are still running.

Well good luck trying to grind micros, like most people said, they can be very frustrating, then the reward is small and almost not worth it when you can win one :p

I wish u good luck. Also a piece of advice bad beats are going happen in the micro stakes and dont focus on that to much instead focus on if you played it right and if not what would u have done different. That helped me out a lot and still does. I know when i had bad beat over and over it had me questioning my own poker abilities. Just play straight solid poker and dont try anything fancy because it over ppl's head and they will call u down with random hands. Well i hope that helps.

Here's some stuff you might want to consider. These are 7 principles taken from M. Hilger's book, 'Poker Mindset'. Reason I'm posting these are on account of thinking (assuming) that you're placing too much emphasis on the 'money' and the 'bankroll' instead of just trying to keep your focus on the game - learning the game, getting better, etc.
Pt. #3 here, Emphasize correct decisions over making money I think is very important.
· Understand and accept the realities of poker
· Play for the long term
· Emphasize correct decisions over making money
· Desensitise yourself to money
· Leave your ego at the door
· Remove all emotion from decisions
· Dedicate yourself to a continuous cycle of analysis and improvement
Hey, I'm in B.C. too.... Interior.. 'West Kootenays'. I'm gonna send you a link to a decent SNG Strategy Guide. I think you'll find it REALLY helpful (around 20pages of some good sound advice, providing a solid foundation for playing Winning SNG play).
GL!
Oh yah.. and stay off the cash tables unless you want to dedicate yourself to learning that style of play... it is different from SNG play in many ways.
