When i first started playing poker my first mistakes were :
1.Overvaluing pairs against passive players
2.Too much slowplaying and not enough value betting
3.Poor decisions preflop
4.not being able to quit when i got tilt

Which were yours ?

Yes me too, overvaluing top pair top kicker or an overpair and losing too much on these kind of hands to a set or hard to see straight.

All of this above plus too aggro OOP and get trapped by opponent.Too many 3bets and continued with triple barrel with air.Too loose calls to a shove with marginal hands.

I would note one of the main mistakes of beginning players is the lack of discipline in the game! common sense of passion will come to an end and the player begins to make wrong decisions

I was bluffing too much with some nonsanse over bets just to make my opponent fold his hand lol.I was slowplaying a lot of hands and let my opponents free cards or miss value...

I think we all suffered from number 3 to start. It wasn't until I took my game more seriously that i really understood how impactful those early mistakes were and how they compound on later streets.

I was a donkey...I literally did not know what to think about during the hand.I also called when it made no sense to just because I could not read hands.

1. Understanding position and how it affects your hand selection pre-flop. Good hand selection pre-flop will probably make your post flop decisions easier.

2. Understanding the gap concept. Just because you would have played a hand if it were folded to you does not mean it should be played when you are looking at a 3 bet.

3. I will have to say hand reading in general. This makes the flop, turn, and river all difficult to navigate if you cannot narrow down your opponents range.

1. I used to open limp instead of open raise
2. I was rarely 3 bet / 4 bet
4. I loved my starting monster hands , even if I didn't hit the flop and a keep calling till the end!
5. I liked the re raise strategy instead of control the size of the pot , I still do that but I know when I should apply this tactic.

And still I have a lot to learn!!! :)

Yeah you lost a big pot but that doesn't mean you played it wrong. The right play is sometimes the loosing play and vis verca.

1. Too much freerolls at the start. Too little money, big waste of time, bad experience of play with bad players. If I would have played NL2, or even NL10 at once, today I would have been at possibly NL100.
2. I'm slightly retarded. Repeatedly do the same mistakes, see it after a couple of seconds, and get rid of them a very long time.

If you are a beginner don't go " ALL IN " without being the best in hand.

Reading is not so important. May be some qualitative vods/streams. Better to compensate it by playing, if you can see and fix your mistakes.

When I started playing poker my most common mistakes were: 1- I wanted to play all the hands ... 2- the size of my bets was without any foundation 3- I did not know how to get the most out of my strong hands 4- Despair and anxiety clouded my game ...

My mistakes were part of yours and also go to all hands and when I won a freeroll tournament I started to play sit & go high buy in with the desire to increase my bankroll quickly which was a mistake

I often tried to steal blinds, and often bluffed, sometimes lucky but the more often you bluff, the more you lose a lot of chips.

Like real estate: location, location, location

Or, in poker, position, position, position - this was the most vsaluable lesson I learned for online play (I played online a ton before playing live - other lessons there).

Understanding the positions and best play for each position is key.
