I'm confused on how i played JJ from SB.

The game is 25nl 4 handed- UTG, EP and myself included were 90-120bb deep. UTG and I have a lil history of betting and 3bet lite so his callin range would be pretty wide. EP was calling a lot raises from UTG and played loose passive.

UTG bet .75, EP called as expected, I 3bet to 3.25 and both called.

Flop - AKc and I think an 8h, I bet 4.50 and both called again

Turn - was a blank heart, we all checked

River - off suit Q, I check folded, UTG (A9) cc, EP bet and took it down w/ 2p KQ

I'm second guessing almost every decision I made, 1- should I have just called instead of 3bet. 2- should I have 3bet different size. 3- should I just check that flop and decided after. 4- flop bet sizing?

Think your preflop 3bet was good, you need to do that to find out where you are. When you have a non-vulnerable pair (i.e. a pair higher than Tens) on a AK high board, your chance of getting outdrawn is very low if you are ahead, and if you are behind you are behind. So maybe on that flop, check calling once or check folding are both okay. Since it's a 3 player pot, once you check and someone bets, probably folding on the flop is best.

Actually this concept which really improved my postflop games is covered in quite a few books I think, can't remember which one, but think one of those was the Cashinpoker book.

3 bet pre then check/fold the flop. You're beat almost always here and if not you'll struggle to get to showdown cheaply.

3bet pre is a good move with JJ... though sometimes its good to just flat A)it disguises your hand and B)you'll save money if the AKx flop shows up and you know someone called u with a effing A or K haha. So check fold the AKx flop for sure.

I agree with youregoodmate...it'd be very difficult to continue 3way with the bottom end of my range. Looking back tho I think calling pre would be better in this specific situation.

3B with JJ from EP is kinda dangerous.
3B should be AA/KK/QQ and then some speculative stuff Axs, PP, sc's etc. Stuff that can easily fold to a 4B.
IMHO, the "midrange" hands are have more value with calling....

Since youre small blind I wouldn't just limp with that hand oop. Rather raise

Yeah, if your gonna play the jacks from the SB you almost always have to limp to find out where you are. Personally, with two callers behind you, and when the flop comes AKx, I am not investing another penny into the hand.
