Ok, so I'm a little confused.... I was always under the impression that three betting was something like this:
Blinds: $3/$6, 3-bet = 18 (BB x 3)
However after watching a few 3-betting videos I'm seeing that it would be this:
Blinds: $3/$6, 3-bet = 24 (BB x 4)

Which is correct? I am now confused.....

3 betting is a third bet, has nothing to do with size. Pre flop, the blind is considered a bet so if someone raises, then the 3bet would be a reraise on that. For instance, CO raises to $18, Button re-reaises(3bet) to $42.

After the flop its the third bet, so a re-raise. SB bets $12 BB raises to $28 SB reraise(3bet) to $64.

I made the numbers up any amount will do.

Are you sure? I'm meaning three betting, not the third bet. Let's say I have KK and pre flop I 3-bet a non raised $3/$6 NL ring game. What would my bet amount be?

The phrase comes from Limit poker. 3-betting is the 3rd bet in a round. Believe me. I was under the same assumption as you a while back and was politely corrected.

Then is it C-betting? Or is there no name for it? This video has me so confused.... lol It is from Stoxpoker and it is called Post-flop play in 3-bet pots.

I'm assuming from readings that it would just be called a 3xBB or 4xBB bet?

Crummy is wrong, sticker & widow are right. 3-bet preflop = re-raise pre-flop.

Oh ok. Pre-flop gets confusing. Since the blind is already out, that is considered the 1st bet. If someone limps, it's still 1 bet. The 1st raise is the 2nd bet and the re-raise is then the 3rd bet.

IE the 1st hand in the video:

1st PF bet in 3/6 NL is the $6 blind.
The 2nd bet is BeachJustice's $24 bet
The 3rd is the BB's $54 bet.

Then from the flop on, you count the actual bets each round.

Awesome..... That is the answer I was looking for, which was actually answered a few times in this thread. This guy hasn't three bet everytime, but he has raised almost every raise 4xBB pre flop. So this is what was confusing the crap out of me.

Thanks for everybody's insight.... I'm such a donkey!
