How often should you use this technique. Many people i know dont use this unless they are planning on re raising is this true and or the case cant you make this read preflop based on how a players been playing at the table. What style does one need to be playing to exploit this skill

If you are on the blinds and the BU/CO raises his position 100% of unopened pots, it's probable that he's opening light very light and you should open your 3-betting range to a lot of suited connectors, broadways, ace highs, and even some junk from time to time. It's awful to play pocket pairs out of position given most of the time you won't improve, so I think it's a great option to 3-bet pocket pairs (55-99) from the blinds unless if the raises come from UTG or UTG+1. Your opponent should be folding most of his range if his opening ATC late position.

Also, to me (tournament/cash game).
3-betting with position post flop: 2.25x/2.75x original raise.
3-betting without position post flop: 3.25x/4x original raise.

I generally don't 3 bet unless I have a monster hand or I know the raiser is loose player. Once I know the player is loose I start 3 betting wider. 4 betting gets a little tricky. 4 bet bluffing against a calling station is just lighting your money on fire especially out of position. I'd only save 4 bet bluffs for thinking players that like to 3 bet light.

Good 4 bet bluffs include A suited, K suited hands (Blockers to AA/KK/AK combos), some suited connectors, and some pocket pairs. If villain 5 bet shoves and you know they're not a complete maniac it's a fold. My 4 bets in cash are in the range of 20-25 BBs so at max I'm only losing quarter of my stack to failed bluff attempts.

Rarely do I engage in 4 bet leveling wars at the micro stakes though. Usually I'm running into AK, QQ+ at that point. So leveling with 4 bet bluffs is kind of higher level tactics. Don't level yourself at the 2/5/10 NL stakes :(

I only 3bet with very good hand or when a player is opening very lightly and folding to a lot of 3bets.

I only 3 bet if I have a good read on the table and I have a good table image. You shouldn't assume that late position is always trying to steal the blind.
