On request, a 45 minute video of me two-tabling 100NL.

The file is about 600MB, so, uh, yeah. Be prepared for a little waiting.

I haven't watched it myself yet, but one very specific note that I want to make from memory:

The A8o hand where I raise the K-J-9hh flop is a very close decision and is probably not something you want to emulate unless a whole lot of factors are just right. In this particular case I had a tight player with a wide steal range, I was a relative unknown who had been playing tight at that table and I expected that a large portion of his betting range on that flop would be to bet/fold and that he would essentially never reraise the flop with any part of his range that didn't have a very big draw or a monster. That said, I only had to risk $12 to win $10, which is just about what I needed to make that work. Had he bet larger on the flop (I think he bet halfpot now) it would have been a fold.

Also, had any of the cards been different (substitue either the J or the 9 for a deuce, for instance), the raise would also have been less marginal.

Questions and comments in this thread, please.

Timely. The time soon approaches where I may be looking to take another shot at 100nl. Be glad to watch a local diety first to get a feel for exactly how to not suck this time.

Got the DL going now, I'll be back with comments perhaps later tonight.

I have a new computer (Vista OS), apparently I'm missing the codec to play the video (I've got the audio) - any idea what codec I need? If not, what format is the video recorded in (i.e., DivX or whatever)?

Thoroughly enjoyed the video. No questions, just comments.

It's always a pleasure to be able to see the thinking that go into the smaller pots/routine decisions, cuz this is where we don't spend enough time thinking about value (tend to focus on the big pots). I play a heckuva lot tighter, it was neat to see some spots where you played hands that I would've folded without thinking (mostly button opens, I'm opening around 35% of my hands, but also a few multiway spots that I fold oop). Loved the semibluff discussion as well - I'm so afraid of getting c/r'd in those spots that I don't take advantage of "bloating the pot" as often as I should (and I am betting too big when I do bet there).

Thanks for doing this!

Nice vid FP. That 42 guy seemed like the classic reverse player to me. Every time he led a flop he was very weak and when he checked he showed strength.

Didn't really like the flop ch/r with 33 on the Ace high board after you missed the cbet. I just think a ch/r on that board looks like a draw more than a strong hand and he'll be calling with his better draws as well as made hands. I think that just giving up OOP after you failed to cbet is much better.

I'm not so sure about that. I mean, I could be wrong about what his range is, and I agree that he's not folding draws or made hands to a small check-raise, but even though it's a pretty coordinated board, he only needs to fold (a little less than) half the time for my check-raise to show a profit. Checking to a reg-type villain on a board like that is basically an open invitation for them to steal, and so I expect that (on average) an opponent like he would bet/fold most of his trash; KQ, KJ, QT, etc. If he's only betting draws and made hands when checked to, I'm obviously losing money by check-raising, but I don't think that's the case - again, on average.

The key here is really that the bluff is cheap and his range is decently wide. In that sense, it's pretty similar to the A8o hand.

Thanks very much FP just watched it now as I'm having some downtime atm. Very solid and thanks for the reference regarding multi tabling as it's of particular importance to me. I'm trying not to spaz out (very difficult at times) playing so many tables so keeping it solid is extremely important. With regards to your style and when you play say 9-10 tables, how's your non-sd line?

Good stuff FP, thank you!

The A8 hand, that you mentioned... the bluff raise is something that I wouldn't have seen BECAUSE the board was coordinated. Or, I would've seen it but been afraid to try it. The fact that, as you mentioned, this makes it difficult for him to 3bet bluff is something I hadn't thought of. There was other stuff I hadn't thought of either... SURPRISE!

Anyway, I thought you explained your decision making very well. I enjoyed it and I learned something.
