Just got this email from bodog.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Effective Thursday, December 16th, a fee of 4.9% will be added to all credit card deposits you make to fund your Bodog account.

As a result of the challenges our industry has faced accepting payments in recent months, many of the companies who process credit card transactions have increased their costs. We tried hard not to pass this increase on to our players but our ability to absorb these fees has become too difficult and as a result we must pass some, but not all, of these fees to players who want to continue to use their credit card to deposit.

We continue to do all we can to maintain a high credit card acceptance rate and are always working to expand the number of alternative methods we offer, including those that have fewer (or no) fees. As a result of these efforts, we recently launched [link removed~tb]http://clicks.bodog.net/track?type=...hier.bodog.com/account/app/deposit/digitalpin, an instant and exclusive method.

We always recommend that you have more than one active method to deposit so that if your credit card fails, you can still quickly make a deposit without any delays.

Now here is the funny part, that digital pin option is a actually a pre paid phone card, and guess what, them damm idiots charge 5%. bodog charges 4.9%.?? Idiot greedy morons, they should eat the cost, cause now guess what I sent bodog an email message and said I will never make a deposit again until it is free. I guess there idiot money department does not realize its better to make some money than no money at all. Because now they have lost a customer. Just thought I would give you all a heads up. I can see its boiling down to just 3 sites to play on now, full tilt, poker stars, and carbon poker. oh well, hopefully some idiot elected official in this country will pass that dam poker bill so we can get it legalized and really bring the competition back into check, you all remember those $1000 5 times a day free rolls we had back in the day before nazi bush ruined online poker, some of us are still waiting in hope for change.

Be angry all you want... but it was CONGRESS that added the UIGEA as an Eleventh Hour amendment to the SAFE Port Act of 2006 that both the House and Senate passed. Bush didn't add the UIGEA amendment... CONGRESS did. Bush only signed what Congress had already done.
Call or write your State's Congressmen and rag on them.

BTW - I'm not a Bush lover or hater ... just like to see Congress gets it's fair attention for being the ones that added the UIGEA.. not a President.

About your Credit Card comments ... another recent law passed by Congress (and iirc) signed into law by Pres Obama... allowed merchants to offer incentives to cash buyers in order to get credit users to help pay the merchant fees ... not just poker sites ... but ALL merchants where you use a credit card. Gas stations can (and many do now) offer lower 'cash price' for their gas than 'credit' buyers. Credit buyers (and some poker site depositors) are now paying the fees that CONGRESS allowed to be paid by the consumer... namely ... YOU. Thank your Congressmen for that bit of extra cost to you too.

Nevada thanks for clearing that up for me, I just feel that Bush being a REP. which I am also and congress being a REP. they were in collusion on this. On the credit card thing, the gas stations out here in California have been doing the cash vs credit lower price thing, before Obama got into office. I know a gas station owner and he said it had nothing to do with credit cards, but he said cash was better cause gas went up and down so much it was better to offer a lower cash price vs. credit so that he would have the cash on hand to buy in bulk if the price was right. Guess what he is trying to say is, he gets a lower price buying cash than if he has to buy it on credit, but having the cash in hand gave him incentive to lower prices for cash buyers. What it is, is what it is, I am just saying these poker sites should eat the cost or dont eat the cost and lose all customers like me who will not deposit until its free. See 5% today, 7% in 3 months, then what we go to 15% to make a deposit, forget it., hence some money is better than no money. I can still make a deposit on poker stars through e check and I think full tilt last time I checked with no charge.

gg Bodog.

When the Reed Bill failed your big payday went out the window and once you start charging the fish to deposit you're done.

Here I am!! haha!

I don't think I will be able to tell you anything different than what CS would tell you/has told you, but here's what I've got from bodog.com finance and CS:

We are not pleased to be introducing a new fee and apologize for the inconvenience. This decision was made completely as a result of the challenges faced with credit card processing in the United States. It is more and more difficult to do business with companies that can successfully accept credit card transactions on our behalf and to keep the costs of this service down. We know that this is an industry wide issue and have worked hard to introduce new non-credit card deposit methods in an attempt to reduce this impact. Our strong recommendation is that you switch to one of these new deposit methods as they are a more stable and lower cost alternative to credit card.

If you have any further q's or comments I urge you to give CS a call, they will be happy to help!

Becky

It is not Bodog's fault, in fact I think we are lucky they can still get the cards through, which is more than I can say for the other sites.

Its not the sites fault its them old idoits in Washington which half of them probally sit in there office playing online poker loosing there butts anyways. They sure dont mind taking our money now they want to tell us what to do with the rest of what little they left us.They still call it gambling well far as im concerened i agree with the judge in the Billy Baxter trial. When Baxter sued the IRS for the 70% of his winnings the IRS took they claimed it was won by luck the judge ruled against the IRS and told them if they think its luck go sit at the table with the man for a few hours then decided how lucky he was.Baxter won his suit Lottery is gambling and legal in about every state poker is a skill game helped out by a little luck.
