This is standard for most sites when you want to withdraw. Security measure to make sure you are who you say you are.

Standard for most sites. They should probably tell you that when you go to deposit...

As already stated, its quite standard for a lot of sites when you want to withdraw, if there was any funny business do you really think it would go unnoticed in the poker world, the site would be blacklisted from here to kingdom come and then some.

My only problem about giving out my ID to a poker site came when they suddenly asked me for my Passport, Drivers License and my national insurance No. Not copies but the documents sent to them, and this wasn't for a withdrawal but only " a security measure" they said.

Rest assured that poker site was immediately off my PC and on my spam list for mail, I would tell everyone what site but it was years ago and i can't honestly remember the name

I am not sure where you live.

If you are in a jurisdiction where neteller is permitted, it saves a lot of hassle to go with them and upgrade to their Premier account.

You have to undergo Neteller`s checks, but you only do it once and then all the poker rooms (in my experience) will accept, without any further questions, that you are a genuine person and your ID has been verified.

Since Neteller is essentially a British bank and is subject to inspection by the Financial Services Authority of the UK Government, you can have pretty good confidence that your details are as safe there as anywhere.

I have never known a poker site ask for a social security number and if there is a site doing so please state which one it is so I never deposit there. As for photo ID and CC numbers, cover up the middle string of numbers on your CC and on your DL and take a digi-photo of it and attache to an email, that worked for me till I opened a moneybookers account.

No I've withdrawn from UB many times and was never asked for this info. Maybe its because I withdraw via Moneybookers, paypal etc. But if you are withdrawing via a cheque and have never deposited before, they want to make sure they are sending the money to the right user.

They usually get you to scan your id and send a copy of it usally by fax or mail.

I look at it as a protection for my ownself too, it makes it harder for any of you to access my "secure account"

Do not ever send anyone anywhere for anything your "official documents"

Excuse me UB, I am who I say I am. OK steezy, prove it or we might have to pay out twice when someone called steezy does provide proof. It's a monetary transaction, would you pay someone without proof they are who they say they are? If so, I'm Durrr, $1m please. Any info that you consider is not shareable, cover it up. I did and have never had a problem withdrawing from any site. :deal:

I just withdrew from ultimate bet for the first time last week and actually got my check in a week and did not have to provide any information, but that is probably because I have deposited there a couple of times before.
