I took around a 9 month break from poker and I am willing to deposit some money for fun on 1 or 2 sites. I usually play at FT and stars but after reading all of these threads, I am really unsure of what to do. Can someone please clear up the best place for me to deposit so that I can get my money back eventually when I want to withdraw it

You're in the US and you are going to take a 'risk' at no matter what you do unfortunatelly. But imo that risk is still going to be lowest with the big sites like stars, FT, UB, Absolute, Cake...etc.

I love UB so far, but seems easier to win bigger on FT...haven't played too much on Stars & very little on Carbon. It's probably a free-for-all no matter where you go, so good wherever!

Easiest at FT???

Full Tilt, poker stars and Ultimate Bet all have the same deposit methods. So I don't see why Full Tilt is the easiest. If I where you, I would pick between the big three. The ones I just mentioned. If you are a big SnG player and tournament player, you have to deposit at Poker Stars. No other sites have the traffic and fills the tournaments like Poker Stars does. Now if you want to play ring, I like Full Tilt and UB better for ring. I just seem to run better there than on Stars for some reason, it's probably just in my head, but it is what it is.

So, I would deposit on all three if you can. If you can only do two sites, I would say Stars and Full Tilt.
