Sorry to say Alexandria, that is par for the course. Every site I have ever joined has asked for I.D. - normally a passport will suffice. If you have problems providing that just ask them what else will do. Especially with winnings in your account!! Don't want to lose the money after you have just won it. I just find it odd they would let me play and make withdrawls and then out of nowhere ask for I.D. I mean what if i didn't have the proper I.D., being that they never asked for it up front I find it wrong that they only ask after you win not before you deposit no no no..... I just believe that these documents should have been asked for BEFORE I made any deposit, not after. It may be the standard but it doesn't make it right. I mean they ask you for I.D. when you walk into the Fallsview Casino, not after you been playing for hours and are cashing in your chips.

It's a routine check, usually when to withdraw money +500$, support often asked to send the document to verify identity. Сopy of the passport for I.D. in most cases quite enough, they do it for the purpose of security.

Thanks yeah I have to Doc's just unexpected i didn't know it was the standard. More to the point though don't you think that they should have verified my I.D. before I played.

Say your at the casino and you walk in get you chips and sit down to play. You triple up and have had enough so you go to cash out your chips. They then ask you for I.D. and OMG you've forgotten it at home, the casino would have to give you your money. One would think it is the companies responsibility to ensure your age and identity before you gamble no?

If you ended up in casino without ID they wouldnt give you your money.

Secondly, I actually thought pokerstars asked for ID upfront on first withdrawal, I mean its been so long I dont know if i sneaked a couple through but they always had my docs.

First time I withdrew they asked me for a copy of my id and a copy of a utility-bill.
Pretty standard, maybe unless you withdraw less than you deposited.
They never asked me for something again.

Usually only happens after the first cashout. Nobody really cares about depositing, because it's money for the room (another reason why there are "anonymous" deposit methods, namely paysafecard, that everyone can get their hands on).

For they to ask only after a while it's strange, but then again I have only withdrawn from FTP, never Stars. Maybe you withdrew a larger sum of money or they decided they should pull a routine check just because :p

It's unfair to ask for ID verification just when withdrawing, and let you deposit without any restriction, it's true that's it's common to the majority of poker rooms , but there's other ones that asked for ID when depositing or when creating the acount.
Hope that pokerstars will, one day, correct this to do a verification in upfront, that will be fair for all

if they asked for ids upon every sign up and deposit they wouldn't have time to process withdrawals.

They do.

Verification is required on fist cash out, no need to verify to deposit, they don't care where the money comes from, but they care that it is going to the right person upon withdrawal.
