i Decided i would document this whole process...for those who are currently wondering if its safe or not to play at ignition poker. i won the 10 dollar buy in 8000 guaranteed. im attempting my first withdrawal of 950 dollars. i received an email stating it was for review and the review would be complete within 48 hours. i will update the post according to updates by them. just for the record they state it will take 5-10 business:jd4: days. We shall see

Congratulations on the win!

Ignition has been speedy recently. I withdrew bitcoin yesterday at 7:20am New York time, and they processed it and sent it to my wallet at 10:06am. Another withdrawal earlier this month was similarly quick.

I assume the 5-10 business days is for a check? Or maybe they need time to verify your documents?

Interesting! I bet that deposits don't require 5-10 business days.

Did you send in your documents (proof of identity and proof of address) for verification before you asked for your withdrawal? Many poker sites require that you send in these documents to verify your id before they will allow any withdrawal. You can deposit without verifying your id but you cannot withdraw.

The reason it takes so long is because of US law making them have to use a middleman :)

I've been on bitcoin for a while. When I used to get checks from Bovada, they were drawn on Canadian banks. The ATM wouldn't take them, you had to deposit with a teller, and it could take up to two weeks to clear.

I've heard of small banks and credit unions not being set up to handle foreign checks well, but I never had a problem at the big national banking chain that I use.

Deposit the check quickly. They are often drawn on temporary accounts, since the payment processors are trying to stay one step ahead of the law. There are stories about them bouncing. Ignition would probably make it right for you eventually, but it would be a hassle.

Which chain you can recommend for him?

For the purpose of bitcoin I don't think my bank is that great but they are brilliant in terms of speedy transfers, raw security level and customer service:

I use CoinBase. I think it's the biggest exchange out there, and U.S. based (and regulated), so I think it's pretty safe.

Select "Bitcoin" as your method when you withdraw. Ignition will ask for a bitcoin address, which you get from Coinbase. It's a different address each time you withdraw.

Ignition sends the coins and sends you an e-mail. They appear in your Coinbase account in a few minutes after Ignition processes your request.

You could keep them there, but I don't. Bitcoin's value fluctuates. So I "sell" them, meaning I put them in my checking account.

I have Bank of America, and Coinbase has a set up where I just sign in to my BoA account to send them. For other banks you may need to enter account numbers and routing numbers, or the numbers on your ATM card.

Coinbase sends the money right away, locking in the amount. But it takes a couple of days before it appears in my checking account.

Coinbase charges a small fee for this service, and the amount seems to fluctuate. My last withdrawal was $650, and I think the fee was $5, but I actually got $658 in my checking account because the value of Bitcoin increased.

There are no fees from Ignition for Bitcoin withdrawals.

I haven't played enough to cash anything out at ignition. bodog was never an issue and checks arrived within a week. You say you've had no issues with Ignition? What's the time from request to mailbox?

What was the Bitcoin withdraw process like? Walk us through it step-by-step.

Edit: Never mind, just say it. I take it there was no red tape.

You are aware that a personal wallet i.e. Blockchain, should be used as a buffer between Ignition and Coinbase. As Coinbase is a federally regulated financial institution, they are not allowed to transfer/receive funds from a gambling site. They have closed accounts because of funds sent/received directly from gambling sites. For bitcoin set-up tutorial see YouTube videos- Bovada/Ignition bitcoin deposit/withdrawal. Substitute Coinbase for Circle.

I've seen that video before, and I believe you are correct about the legalities. Still, I find that advice odd due to the anonymous nature of bitcoin.

Do you have evidence that accounts have been closed?

ACR's video re bitcoins mentions nothing about using a personal wallet as an intermediary, and they are in the same position as Ignition.

In the deposit/cash out threads of Bovada/Ignition, ACR bitcoin, and Merge network on the 2+2 Internet poker forum, there are many posts warning of this. Using the search feature of the threads can help locate the specific posts.

First withdrawal

Placed 3rd in 4k GTD turbo ... requested my first withdrawal (bitcoin) on Wednesday 12/13 for $400. Sent back verification form and docs within minutes. As of today Saturday 12/16 no bitcoin received... Just want to make sure this is "normal" process and time....
