I was lucky enough to win US$17,600 at pokerstars last night.
I live in the UK. I now want to make a large withdrawal, but I've never withdrawn from PS before.

What's the quickest and easiest withdrawal method, without getting stung by charges or a poor conversion rate from US$ to Sterling?

You could transfer it to my Jarlith44 account to keep my $ they are holding company, but I wouldn't recommend it. I get the feeling if and when I ever see my $ again, it wont have earned any interest.

Seriously though Im sure youll get some good responses here later in the day.

Good Luck Gandalf

Thanks. Looks like first stage is to convert from US$ to Sterling using Pokerstars 'Convert other funds to GBP' option, as the exchange rate seems about right.

Unfortunately it will only allow me to convert $3000 pd.

Looks like this will take a few days, and I still need to know best way to get funds back to UK.

Thanks. I had 10,200 VIP Points which I've earned over the last 3 years. Used them to buy a ticket (value $162) to the daily $50,000 guaranteed tourney. This is by far the highest buy in tournament I've ever entered. There were 879 entrants and I came second for $17,601. Started at 9pm. Finished 4.15am. Glad I didn't have work the next day! No special strategy tips. Just 600 hands of solid poker. The only mistake I'm aware I made was calling an all in with 88. Lost this hand to AA which halved my stack. When we were down to 20 players, and prize money was rising fast I folded AKo which is a first for me. I had raised 3X from early position. Got 2 callers then an all in from a solid player who had me covered. It felt like my AKo was beat by AA or KK, but I'll never know for sure because the rest of us folded pre flop. If I'm right, this decision made the difference between coming second and coming 20th. One decision - worth around $17,000!

To celebrate I'm treating my long suffering wife to a holiday in Tenerife. I'll shove £8000 into my retirement fund. I'll invest the rest (over the next 12 months) in my poker education :D

Congrats!

If you max out your conversion limit, try emailing Stars and asking if they'll increase it :)

Update - Successfully made a £1900 withdrawal which pays for the holiday. Attempted another withdrawal for £5700 which has been declined as they need ID. Fair enough I suppose. ID details E-Mailed. We fly to Tenerife in 4 hours :) , so hopefully I'll be able to make my second withdrawal when we get back

you will never convert it without paying a fee, the only option which you have, is to wait for the best exchange rate.
