Hi! I want to try online poker and casino however im worrying if poker sites are safe in terms of credit card information. I believe you have to make a deposit before you can start playing. Im planning to use my credit card to make a deposit. Guys, can you also suggest which poker sites offer free rolls and big bonuses especially for newbies? I would really appreciate any feedback asap.

Thanks in advance!

If you are in the US, many credit card companies won't allow you to charge a deposit on their credit card, especially since the UIGEA passed. My mastercard would not even allow it before the UIGEA. And, some regulations of the UIEGA are going into effect soon that will prevent banks from allowing customers to make deposits to gambling sites. But, there are other options. One is to use a US Postal Service Money Order! Yes, you can actually use the facilities of the US Government to make a deposit to an online gambling site!!! Check with the site you play to see what options they have available for US players to make a deposit.

I have had friends use pre-paid credit cards for depositing on poker sites. They recommend doing it that way.

Another option I've heard good things about is PIC Club. I don't know much about it but you can do a search here at CC and I'm sure you'll find out all you need to know.

As far as sites go, at UB (and I presume AP now) you can write a check and mail it to a bank in canada. That has worked very well for me. You have to be patient because the process takes over a week. Also, remember to put 2 stamps on your envelope otherwise you'll get it back.

pre-paid cards

the prepaid cards are a good idea. make sure you use the visa prepaid creditcards because american express prepaid cards will not allow you to make a deposit on the poker sites because you can only use them in the US. however the visa prepaid cards will let you make your deposit no problem. hope this helps

Speaking from experience on UB...I had to jump thru hoops to make a deposit in order to cash out and it wasn't easy! lol I ended up going to a Western Union branch to wire money directly to them - in the Philllipines...then had them send me my cashout via same route for a $25 fee. The first time deposit bonus didn't work - lol..I deposited a lonely $100 to cash out and spent $500 trying to collect my lil $111 bonus - I never did make the bonus - after 60 days it went POOOOOOOF! GONE!

You always said NEVER to deposit...have you had any experience with pokerstars??? That is sad about the cost outweighing the amount deposited though! Sorry that you had to go through that! I've been thinking about depositing into Pokerstars so I can play the Gals v Guys tournament! Advice please? Thanks!

Can't help ya there, but the pre-paid Visa sounds like the way to go for you - some pre-paid Visa gift cards will NOT work in Canada - I tried that route too - in order to cash out of UB(u need to deposit first before withdrawing - thus my dilema using Western Union) I've since been told some cards will work in Canada - but obviously that doesn't affect you.

Thanks for the advice...I'll definitely try the pre-paid Visa gift card then...I doubt that I'll earn enough to cash-in otherwise on PS by Saturday for the practice 8-game! Although, there IS always a 1st time! Take care!:D

Hi! Thanks for all the responses. I really appreciate it. Is there a site that gives instant bonus without depositing for newbies like for someone who wants to try the games first? Thanks in advance.

I believe you have to make a deposit before you can start playing. Im planning to use my credit card to make a deposit.

You do not have to make a deposit to start playing at any of the sites that I know of. However, many will require you to make a deposit before you cashout.

Exceptions to this (that I know of) are Poker Stars, Full Tilt and bodog. You can cashout at these sites without having ever deposited.

If you have paypal, you can usually use a onetime Paypal Secure Card to deposit. I just did it with Carbon the other day
