Used to play Bovada but they now charge you to deposit. Anyone know why?

Bovada fees

Was wondering why Bovada charges to make a deposit. Wouldn't this be part of the cost of doing business? They should make their money from entry fees and racks. I also would like to know if they charge to withdraw funds. Thanks in advance.

Bovada does indeed charge for deposits, but I consider it to be minimal and the fact that they allow one free withdrawal per month with FedEx paid by them more than offsets that for me. I withdraw about 5 to 6 times per year, and deposit maybe 10 times per year. If you do the math, I'd be paying more if I had to cover the FedEx fee

Yeah I agree its only like 3.5% to deposit and would be a lot more to pay the fed ex fee

I disagree with the premise of paying for the privilege just to play. It is the same feeling I have with costco, but at least you can earn back your "membership" from them. Other sites I used to play had no charges at either end. ie party poker, pokerstars etc. Payouts went directly to my checking account. My deposit % shows 4.7%, if I make one, on Bovada.

Why would you withdraw 5-6 times a year if you are depositing 10 times a year? Are the deposits for reload bonuses or something? Otherwise I don't get it.

I keep my account balance relatively low for security reasons. When I make a deposit it is usually for a high dollar tournament like the $100,000 or other special events.

Got it. Makes sense.

I actually get paid to deposit on Bovada, I get 10% extra on each deposit (dismissing the would be 4.7% feed) making it the total of 14.7% extra over other players, on each deposit. Say I deposit 100$ I get 110$ on my account. This is because I am a VIP member of the site.
