Bovada Check issues

I just received a $750 Check from Bovada. It is drawn on a Canadian bank. My credit union has told me they cannot accept it , due to it being drawn on Canadian funds. bovada has told me they must have a documented reason for why the bank cannot accept it, and even than cannot guarantee a stop payment!?? Anyone else had issues?

A friend of mine had a similar problem at the drive thru of his bank, but they offered to send the check to their collections department for a $40 fee, so he should have the money in 6-8 weeks.

I think some people have had success by depositing via ATM.

Just an update: The friend I mentioned said his check cleared today. It took four weeks to clear in collections at a well known US bank. The check was for $500 and he got $405, so either the collections fee was higher than stated, or the exchange rate caused it to be less (or both).

I don't know if things might have changed in the last few months, but I just deposit the check (drawn on canada Bank) and leave enough in there to cover. My bank doesn't charge me anything. This could have changed.

My BlackChip check was Canadian. First went to Walmart cause I was told they will cash for $6 fee but the routing numbers wouldn't line up so the machine couldn't read it and they wouldn't cash it.

I ended up taking it to my bank and they had to send it or something but I got my money with no fees in 5 days. All total from request to cash in hand was 18 days.

Bovada specifically says to always deposit via ATM if you're able.

I received a check for $1,300 from Bovada yesterday. I deposited via ATM, and it was accepted no problem. I had $300 immediately accessible, and the check processed early this morning, so it's all available now. The check wasn't Canadian, it was from a bank in Singapore. I've had a couple friends have problems specifically with Canadian checks, so I'm not sure if that's a recurring thing.

I got this resolved today. Ty for the help!

Not sure what the US has against Canadian banks, our banking system is one of the best in the world.

Glad you were able to get your cash!

I have never had this problem with my bank but have heard of this happening, if worse comes to worse you can go to one of those sketchy places in the hood that cash checks for a fee, they would probably take a flat fee from it. Hope you get this resolved.
