888poker wexperience: Deposit OK, Withdrawal - Not Allowed

Here is a story about my short experience with 888poker:

One day I decided to try 888poker. I made a deposit which took seconds, played couple tournaments and after that tried to make withdrawal... And circus began:

April 23, 2016

After my withdrawal request I suddenly got requirement to prove my age (strange, when I made the deposit I was old enough).
I sent a scan of my passport and received:
"We can confirm that we have now received and verified the recently requested documentation. As a result any restrictions have now been removed from your account, and any waiting withdrawals can now be processed."

May 15, 2016

After 3 week waiting I sent request to inform me when 888poker is planning to complete my withdrawal transaction.

May 20, 2016

I received:

"Meanwhile, we have to temporarily restricted your account. In order for us to reinstate your account fully, we ask that you verify your identity by submitting the following documents:

- A photocopy of your credit card ending #2439 (front & back)
- A photocopy of a recent utility bill showing your name & address"

Now is clear 888poker decided to keep my money.:(

It is not clear of anything. It sounds like a semi-normal first withdrawal.

For sure, there is a lack of communication in their witdrawal department between employees, but proof of identity, credit card and utility bill on first withdrawal are all pretty standard.

In your case, I would write a (polite!) email asking that the procedure be finalized, and if they could please make sure all requirements you need to fulfil are fully stated.

They are not trying to keep your money, exactly the opposite. They are making sure you are you. The bureaucracy sucks, but it does anywhere. They could have handled the information better, but (and this is why I say be polite) the staff are also just people, and some people do better jobs than others. If you are polite, someone may say "hey, let's get this done" If you are not, they may say "put this at the end of the "to do" list"

It was clear 888poker decided to keep my money and I didn't even to login to this site.

But I didn't estimated enough good the invention capabilities of 888poker.

14/05/2017 I received an e-mail:

Hi <customer name>,

We can see that you haven’t logged in to your account since 20/05/2016.

Once your account has been inactive for 12 months, your remaining balance of $<amount> will be removed from your account.

Hurry, you’ve got until 20/05/2017 to log in before your funds are removed!.

So simple, just a smart 2 step plan how to keep the customer money legally:
STEP 1 - let the customer know to get money back is impossilble;
STEP 2 - send a warning after that the customer money can be kept legally.

888 poker

Played there steady for two years a few years ago. made quite a few withdrawals whenever i had over three hundred accumulated. Never had any issues with them whatsoever. Maybe by leaving a bankroll in play was the key?

So what's the problem? You were warned, go to your account, play a few hands and do not lose anything.

I don't mean to insult you but your interpretation is completely wrong. It is standard practice on most (all) reputable poker sites to ask for proof of address (a photocopy of a recent utility bill showing your name & address) before they will allow any withdrawals. Also, since you made your first deposit with a credit card, they have to ask for a photocopy of the credit card (front and back).

I really think you overreacted and kinda created yourself this problem.

Not front and back, unless it is chipped. Unless you don't mind sharing your credit card with the web.

I have never had any issues ever with poker 888 with taking money out. I have pulled out around $5000 over time. within 3 to 4 days in my account.

I can't complain about 888 Poker too, although i have read on pokerstrategy forum, that some players have their accounts even disabled due misuse of bonuses, deposits & withdraws.
The author of this topic did wrote "I made a deposit which took seconds, played couple tournaments and after that tried to make withdrawal". I can assume that this was the point. My recommendation for the future, no matter where you start to play: 1) make sure that you verify your account details before you making withdraw, 2) let some time to pass between your deposits and withdraw, so that it doesn't look like, as you made a deposit just to get some tickets or bonus and withdrawing it instantly. Every poker room wants you to play poker at their website, paying rake for that. That's how they earn money. Of course they will react allergic to anyone, who just trying taking advantage out of their promotions without having intention to play much poker.
