What, would you have called that all-in?

She was an aggressive but solid player on the big blind, so I don't think she had an overpair. She had me beat, and I'd bet my whole bankroll for that.

I knew her too well to do that.

I don't feel bad at all about this hand. I was beat. It was a great Sit & Go, I had a good table image and played pretty well.

Too bad I ended up placing 4th. I had two unsuccessful big hands at the last stages, both in which I was mathematically a clear favorite. :(

But that's just poker.

you were obv beat, you had limped in allowing any hand in the pot ie: suited and unsuited connectors, any PP and any Ax hands.
If you had made the standard 4xBB raise with such a great hand then you would know better of the strength of your opponents hand.
Limping with QQ = not too smart.
As for the laydown, pretty standard

Hmm.. I should have raised on the flop. But I didn't, because I suspected she had hit something big, maybe a set or trips. She bet almost third of her chips there, and the blinds were so high I would've been pot commited.

She couldn't have done that with just a top pair, let alone gone all-in on the turn.

I know.

That was the first limp-in with a big hand in that tournament, and I only did that because of my table image. The other players kept commenting my game in the chat and kept folding against my preflop raises. I was tight and aggressive throughout the game and they knew it. I was in control.

Like I said, I don't feel bad about this hand. It just didn't turn out the right way for me.

yep! a pre-flop raise would measure how strong her hand is... i should get rid any of the thrash cards they have. and since they know that you're a tight one they wouldn't possibly call with any hand...

Then raise more - it's far more effective than limping on the button with QQ.

Pretty standard fold seeing as how badly it was played preflop. You beat absolutely nothing but a stone cold bluff...limp in and you are beaten by 28. Play on the flop was terrible as well. NEVER flat call a bet in that situation...raise or fold.

And as stupid as it is...i suspect you lost the blinds, and a good chunk of your stack, to some total crap like 83o because you limped in on the button with one of the top hands possible.

First off, the answer to being known as tight aggressive (and I doubt the $2 sng players were commenting on your image in particular) is to steal more, ie raise with hands like 9T, not limp with hands like QQ.

Second off, you're being a bit arrogant with that thread title. It's pretty much a standard fold. You're beat. Please raise QQ PF next time.

Unopened pot, OTB with xx = easy raise. When you have QQ here, it is criminal not to raise to 550-650 imo.

By the way, there is absolutly nothing wrong with taking the blinds here with a preflop raise.

Instead of winning 300 you lost 700 with pocket queens, not good.

Were you hoping for a raise from one of the blinds after you're limp? If so it's not an awful play I guess, I think QQ is just about the weakest hand you need to do this though. And the blinds are getting high so it's more likely than early in a tournament that the SB or BB will make a move preflop.

Postflop why did you think you were beat? On the flop I guess you smooth called to continue your slowplay? Because you were definetly good on the flop. The turn is only bad if she had J10 and was semibluffing on the flop. You should have put her all in on the flop, there's straight draws out there and an ace or king might come, don't give her a cheap turn.

And a few more things, bluffing is more likely when the blinds get high, when you are heads up, and on safe boards like this (ragged paired boards or medium card paired boards especially). If I were the BB I would take a stab at the pot with nothing since it probably missed you. He probably wouldn't bet all in on the turn on a stone bluff though, but he might still have a draw, or he might have something like king 7 and think he's good on the turn. And not to mention he could have a king 9 or queen 9 and think he's betting the best hand.

That is a TERRIBLE fold.

1. You're playing a $2 game, people are doing that with SO many hands.
2. There's no flush draw on the flop. Why would he raise that strong with an 8?
3. The ONLY hands he could have is 67, TJ, 9T, A9, K9... All of which you beat apart from TJ.

BAD fold lol. "genius" fold. Don't get cocky about a fold if you don't know how to play poker. SORRY.

For everyone that thinks this is a bad fold.

What is he raising the flop with? an 8?? NO. A9.. YES. There's no way he's betting that strong on a non-flush drawed flop.
This is a retarded thread. He's NOT raise flop with an 8 and he's NOT shoving the turn with an 8 after he just flats him on the flop. Where's the value in shoving on the turn??

THIS IS A $2 TOURNAMENT - STOP GIVING SO MUCH CREDIT

Nothing wrong limping in w/ QQ on the button for variance. Raising 3xbb all the time w/ a big hand becomes too predictable. now i'm pretty sure at this level (2$), not all players may be paying attention to that, nevertheless you got your villain to commit all his chips in the pot by the way you played it with an overpair...i'm taking my chances especially w/ an 8M. you set a good trap, BUT forgot to close the door.
