You both are but you got your money in good and he just happened to get there. But you don’t need to shove on the flop. I think you should’ve just bet if he calls punish the draw. If he gets there you at least could get away from your hand.

Unless you were short stacked you didn't need to shove on the flop. An overpair is a fine hand to get it all-in with, our opponents just have an even better hand sometimes. Just gotta roll with the punches.

I think he's the donkey, because he calls 5BB only with 10 J

Assuming you have 1500 chips.

I do not know if you applied a 2.5x 3bet or punished the limp since you are in BB (big blind).

the pot is 210 chips ... you go all in with 1400 chips.

I can say with all the certainty of the world, you're the donkey ... he's a calling station.

CS play looking just for your hand, do not analyze opponent ... now your all in was very wrong.
It was so bad that you had only 66%, meaning it's not a bad beat.

The way I see it.

That's what I told him, he's a CS, he does not analyze the possibilities, he just looks at his cards ... even if he only had 4 outs, the chances of him paying that all in is great ... I'm not saying he's right , it is -EV, but we have to analyze the player's tendencies ... Now the act of overvaluation (donkey) who took it was you, I think it could have played in a thousand different ways and made the worst decision possible.

You keep saying he called 5 BB's like it was a huge amount, it was 100 chips and it is a freeroll and many many many people would call that at the start of the tourny, I would call and look at the flop and go from there just like he did, I play freerolls very loose.

You just got unlucky.

Yah I'd have to agree. YOU are definitely the donkey. In most situations like this one you're only getting called by hands that beat you. So you're typically winning the minimum with your good hands & losing the most when beat (basically 'freerolling' yourself and helping villain to play optimally vs. you).
Do you see what is wrong with your postflop play? Opening for 7x pot on the flop?

What position is 'player 2' in? SB? Why are they called 'player 2'?

tbh, the way you've posted the HH is a bit confusing.

I'm guessing...
level 1

Villain (SB)- 1,500
HERO (BB) - 1,500

Villain completes from SB... HERO raises 5xbb to 100. SB calls.

Flop
2 - 8 - 9 (guessing 'rainbow'?)

Villain (SB) checks
HERO (BB) jams allin 1400 into a 200 pot. Villain calls w OESD (& hits ftw)

fwiw, you're a 2-to-1 favourite. Maybe villain is putting you on a wider range here? (maybe if they've seen you play before?)

If the villain is in MP then how is this possible >>
Flop: 2 8 9
Player#2 Check
I Go AllIn

How were they able to 'check' if you were in BB? (I'm still confused by the HandHistory)

If you raised to 5x from the BB, that means players limped/folded before you? How many of them were there? how big was the pot?
Maybe villain had solid pot odds, and was in position over you, therefore calling with a drawing hand seems as an ok play, not the best, but just ok. He just happened to be lucky to hit an open-ender allowing him to call your bet/shove. Let's face it, it is a freeroll, easy to call off your stack on a draw.
Also, would you ever shove like that if it wasn't a freeroll tournament? I am aiming at the lack of sense in freeroll tournaments in general, and FRC, even tho far better then the rest out there, is no exception...
