This was the last playable hand I had before being knocked out at 10 (one short of FT). There were approximately 15 people remaining at the time and I didn't feel confident shoving with J9o. Having said that the other guy was playing relatively loose and was being a big stack bully.

Was this the correct call? If it were suited I would've shoved. But I know only improve by 2% if that's the case. I don't have a good game plan for BB defense. I'll be doing some serious reading on this subject after I get some shut eye.

PokerStars - 3000/6000 Ante 600 NL - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

SB: 14.65 BB (VPIP: 42.31, PFR: 30.77, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, hands: 26)
Hero (BB): 5.67 BB
UTG: 12.73 BB (VPIP: 36.67, PFR: 13.79, 3Bet Preflop: 22.22, Hands: 30)
CO: 21.41 BB (VPIP: 14.00, PFR: 8.51, 3Bet Preflop: 18.18, Hands: 51)
BTN: 5.46 BB (VPIP: 25.00, PFR: 15.22, 3Bet Preflop: 6.25, Hands: 48)

5 players post ante of 0.1 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2 BB) Hero has J 9

fold, fold, fold, SB raises to 2 BB, fold

SB wins 2.5 BB

Please excuse brain fart of a post as given above. There are some obviously easy to find BB defense resources online. This CC thread being one. I'll make a more diligent effort in the future to review my game when I'm well rested.

Personally, the only ocasion I fold in this spot is on a satallite bubble situation, maybe a tornament with a high payout, but then you have to check ICM

Thanks for the suggestion bumerangue. I've never used one so I didn't think of it earlier.
