$Freeroll NLHE MTT Turbo: High School league- Was it right to steal in Button with 23s?

I was playing the High school league in PS, it had a field of 1400 person and there were 23 left. I had 7 BB on the Button and tried to make a steal with a 23s. I did not have information about the villain. The question is, is it too over to make that light steal or do you think it is ok when short stacked?

There were some shorter stacks so I would not go all-in here even with some better hands. Maybe minraise-fold. I think it's ok to steal blinds sometimes with non-hands like that, but you should have an idea about your opponents first plus preferably do that when blinds are short and tight.

Fold, you could have plenty of better hands to steal blinds with than 32s.

I agree, 23s was too light for a shove. Could you tell me the range of hands that you would push in this situation with 7BB and in the dealer position? I looked for a push/fold chart and found this range: 22+ Kx+ Q2s+ Q8o+ J6s+ J8o+ T7s+ T9o 97s+ 86s+ 76s. What do you think of it?

With 7 big blinds, you shouldn't be opening anymore, you should just be open jamming. 23s here is a fold, as you should be jamming about 46.6% of your hands here. The range looks something like this:

22+, Kx+, Q3s+, Q8o+, J7s+, J9o+, T7s+, T9o+, 97s+, 86s+, 76s+, 65s+.

Check out some push/shove charts, that will definetly help you out! As a general rule, you normally are just going to be open jamming or rejamming with stacks below 15 big blinds, as anything else is too exploitable and puts you in weird spots.

This is an easy fold, you should be shoving Nash equilibrium ranges in this spot.

Personally I would go 22+ A2+ K2+ Q2s+ Q8o+ Q2s+, J7s+, J9o+, T9o+, T7s+, 96s+, 86s+, 76s+.

Min-raise/fold with 7bb? Never ever do that. Shoving range with 7bb on the button is very wide but probably not this wide however depending on 2 stacks in the blinds may be justifiable

I couldn't get hand player to work so not sure what stacks are but probably should have found a spot before you got down to 7 bb

I guess that if you know that their calling range is tighter than A9+, 88+, both SB and BB, I dont think the steal was such a bad idea since you were the buttom, but its that kind of situation you have to see some numbers, maybe to this play be profitable, the calling range should be even tighter
