Hi guys this hand happened to me yesterday. Was curious if this was a good fold or not?

Felt like limping would be awkward since I didn't have the implied odds for it as well. Opted for a fold to survive a bit longer for the OSL points.

Would you fold in this spot? And also if it would be a normal tournament and not with the added leaderboard points, would this be a clear shuff then?

Although I kinda know how they work, I can't say whether or not it's the right fold looking at it with the whole point system. Might be. No idea.

Normal tourney: clear shove. Couldn't be more awesome actually. Way ahead of the limpers' range, whose limps now are just dead money in the pot (and if you get called they almost never have you strongly beat).

^Ninoverm nailed it.

Clear shove in a regular tourney, folding is fine in this specific tournament.

Alright thanks guys! Was a bit unsure about what people limp with on short stacks but then again that might be the lvl of the tournament.

Thanks for your advice :D

I would've called and played for set value. If u hit, you probably could've made lots of chips...If u miss your set, you re-think your strategy...an easy fold dependind on board, maybe a cbet or a flat (flat especifically dont work so well on open skill, at least for me) but if you have a good read on your opp...
Shoving after so many limps, someone surely would've called....

Calling is out of the question here. Especially against limpers you should be looking to shove or fold from this position 18 blinds and under. There's barely any value in hitting a set as you're only 12 blinds deep.

Set mining is optimal when you can win 20x what it costs to call. Committing yourself to this hand by calling and hoping to hit an 8-1 out is silly and will most times result in an instafold if you don't hit. I'm shoving here...

Yeah indeed set mining is only profitable when you're deep enough. On a 13 BB stack it's basically push/fold in my book. Or is it a good idea to raise for 2.5/3 BB's sometimes?

Edit: So basically my question is when are your only options push/fold, at 15 BB's? At 10 BB's? Or even 20? Or does it depend on antes as well since stack to pot ratio is higher then (and a lower M).

If you want calls (you have AA, KK) then you can go for a 3x raise here, and hope someone jams over you, but with 66 you're hoping to take down the pot preflop and boost your stack by 5 BB here. So it has to be a shove.

How are the points done for PSO games?

Can folding here lead to bad decisions in future games?

Not saying this specifically about OP, but if this was a cash buy-in MTT, I can see players folding here because they're near the money and want to cash instead of taking the optimal line. All because they got into the habit of folding in PSO games to obtain a few extra points.

Yeah that's a valid point. Should be fixed in the new setup tho, since points don't get deducted anymore for early bust outs and the points are a bit more top heavy like normal tournaments. That was indeed one of the weaknesses of the old PSO leagues.
