Hi, I don't usually play MTTs, so I thought I'd start with some freerolls to get used to them. I'm interested in knowing if villian put any thought behind calling my shove or if it was just him looking for a lucky draw. I know I probably shouldn't have shoved after that flop.

Yeah, your shove wasn't good. You flopped a great flop for your hand and you opted to scare everyone away instead of extracting max value from drawing hands or weaker Aces. A better route would've been to lead an appropriate sized flop bet and reevaluate the turn.

With that being said, Villain isn't playing for his tournament life. It's not uncommon to see people get it in with the bad side of the 60/40 if they'll still be sitting okay.
Biggest fault is your shove. All you gotta do is learn from it and move on.

If you bet something like 45~60%, you put him to think about his survivor on tournment. Maybe he calls this particular hand, but generally, he will NOT hit flush on turn or river. So you have to explore this kind of believers players seeking for small draws. Good luck, dude :)

You cannot expect people to play legitimately in a freeroll. Calling an all-in shove early with a flush or straight draw is SOP in freerolls. People are looking for early double-ups or to go home.

I think it is not a bad shove in freeroll tournaments, even now you were a favorite after the flop but didn;t go your way. People in freerolls call overbets often with marginal hands.

thats happens very often in freeroll.
i think u did great enough.
he will def-ly call in everything as he cover ur stack twice.
2:1 to have a 2 card lucky draw seems got value.
and the result was just too unlucky bro...

I find myself making these shoves fairly often, to scare away the flush draws. Quite honestly, a bit surprised that he calls with that low a draw. It's a freeroll, so people like to gamble. Unlucky that he got there, but he was going to probably put you in a tough spot if you hadn't shoved flop (he would probably raise turn, and then you're really swimming).

I think you can raise bigger preflop in a freeroll because many people will call with weaker hands. And over shoving is not so bad in a freeroll, but wont be so good when your against better players.

He wouldn't put much thought in to calling with a flush draw because he is probably a beginner and doesn't know the odds and probably doesn't care about losing in a free roll.
