I played this hand today in a freeroll on pokerstars. The sample I have on this opponent is only 11 hands, but my read was that he's rather lose passive and therefore probably playing more or less straight forward post flop.

The hand goes like this:

PokerStars - $0+$0|150/300 Ante 25 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BB: 75.31 BB (VPIP: 20.45, PFR: 9.09, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 44)
Hero (UTG): 25.34 BB
UTG+1: 9.57 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 4)
MP: 39.11 BB
MP+1: 86.1 BB (VPIP: 52.38, PFR: 19.05, 3Bet Preflop: 14.29, Hands: 21)
MP+2: 36.65 BB (VPIP: 28.21, PFR: 12.82, 3Bet Preflop: 10.00, Hands: 39)
CO: 51.15 BB (VPIP: 22.73, PFR: 13.64, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 22)
BTN: 40.01 BB (VPIP: 31.82, PFR: 4.55, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 44)
SB: 64.17 BB (VPIP: 40.00, PFR: 20.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 5)

9 players post ante of 0.08 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.25 BB) Hero has A:heart: A:spade:

Hero calls 1 BB, fold, MP calls 1 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, SB calls 0.5 BB, BB checks

Flop: (4.75 BB, 4 players) T:club: 4:spade: 5:diamond:
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets 2.14 BB, fold, SB calls 2.14 BB, fold

Turn: (9.02 BB, 2 players) 3:diamond:
SB checks, Hero bets 2.25 BB, SB calls 2.25 BB

River: (13.53 BB, 2 players) T:diamond:
SB bets 13.53 BB, fold

SB wins 13.53 BB

I bet small on the flop and the turn because I want to keep him in with all of his trash. Then on the river, when the board pairs, he makes a pot sized bet which would have ended the tournament for me if I had called. I think the fold was correct, but I probably should have bet the turn and the river bigger. I don't know!

What do you think about the way I played the hand?

Oh and I decided to limp the Aces UTG because I wanted to induce bluffs from the two maniacs and also collect money from anyone limping behind. I think that was probably correct... Maybe not though. He might have folded a random ten out of position. The odds were to good for him not to call. But I was afraid I wouldn't get any action...

Well honestly in a freeroll tournament you should rarely be limping in with aces it is just fps and unesscary against the general pool of players. If you look at the hand again you said you want to "keep his trash in" but that is the exact problem you do not know what trash and should've raised 3x preflop and 3/4 flop charging him a price to see cards with his trash. Do not adjust for fish just exploit them especially with only 25 bb

no need to limp aces especially in freerols. to limp aces is weak play. As played seems you are busted on river, fold is ok. on flop i woul bet more cause it is 2 players agains you smth like 70-75% of pot

In may experience, limping with Aces is rarely (if ever) the correct move. You're asking for trouble from all of the worst possible hands (that will get lucky). The blinds are going to play for cheap/free, and when the flop comes up 722 they're going to crush you with their 72 hand.

Plus, you're not getting any commitment from your opponents. You want then to pay to see their cards. That way they're more likely to continue paying if they catch a small piece of the flop (such as a smaller pair).

My suggestion - NEVER slow-play Aces, especially not from UTG where you're opening yourself up to multiple callers who just want to see a cheap flop.

I do agree with you all and I hate to limp there but my experience is that even in freerolls people realize that they're against a premium hand when a very tight player raises UTG. It seems to happen to me almost every time that I don't get any action with my aces...

Would you have made the call on the river though? Or do you think my fold was correct?
