River: (12.84 BB, 2 players) 4:diamond:
MP+2 bets 5.09 BB and is all-in, Hero?

I feel the first mistake that I made was limping in on the BTN w/ A7o. I feel my game is taking a pounding because I'm playing too many marginal hands. I'd just like to what the correct play would be in this situation. I think the flop bet was even incorrect. I was trying to prevent a cheap flush card coming on the turn.

Thanks

Fold pre. Off 19bb you should almost never be limping on the button, let alone with a hand like A7o that isn't going to flop well.

It's hard to tell where you're really at on the flop, your bet is fine though.

Turn I think I'm jamming given SPR and river is a sighfold.

Finally found a comment from trent I don't agree on! Although it's close.

I lean towards shoving here. Relative to the two extremely short blinds this is an obvious profitable shove, and I think MP+2 looks really weak limping here. In these kinda tourneys you will see players limp with a lot of weak hands from these positions, and if they have strong hands they raise.

So you shouldn't be too afraid of being dominated, as A8+ would probably be a shove here from MP+1 (not sure of course, but it's an empiric and usually quite reliable assumption). A7 is probably ahead of all other ranges and you've got fold equity against every opponent.

Agreeing with trent on post-flop play.

You're correct, I didn't look at the full stack sizes and realize now we are only shoving 10bbs effective with A7o here. Definitely jam pre.

I think it was fault to call A7o but in this spot for me it's call on river
