£Freeroll NLHE MTT Deep Stacked: League Semi Final: Live game - all in on flop with average stack

Hi,

So this is my first post on this forum, and I just wanted a bit of insight from you guys in whether I made the right decision here, and just general thoughts.

We're about two hours in to a pub league semi final (so technically a freeroll, however the place is earnt). Blinds are at 200/400, with around 70 players remaining out of the original 95. We're ten handed. I'm at quite an aggressive table with frequent raises, re-raises and all-ins, but in fairness there has been a lot of action flops.

So I'm in late position, in the hijack, with a stack of around ~18K (45 BBs). I have Ac10h. Folds around to me and I raise, making it 3x BB at 1.2k. Cutoff folds, button calls, small blind calls and big blind calls. Four of us see the flop.

The flop comes 7c8c9c. Excellent flop for me, and I know I'm at least drawing to the best hand here in most spots with two overs, open ended straight draw and nut flush draw.

The small blind bets 2.5k and then the big blind shoves all-in with around 20k. This guy has been pretty active and quite aggressive with his bets on this table. I figure, trying to roughly calculate the equity of calling this here, even in worse case scenario I'm most likely still the favourite at this point, or at least close. However, it's a much bigger bet than I'd have liked to call with, and it's for my tournament life.

I ended up calling. Before I reveal the outcome of the hand, I'd just like your thoughts? Was this the right decision, regardless of who ended up winning the hand?

More than happy to explain my reasoning for calling in further detail.

Yeah this is definitely a call. So much dead money out there and you might pick up callers behind you are definitely getting the right odds to call even if only your club draw ends up being live.

Thanks for your response!

I called and the next two folded. He had 5h6d which was more or less what I put him on. Statistically I was still favourite to win the hand at this point, but only just! Unfortunately I didn't hit and that was the end of the tournament for me.

Hello guys :D

Let's do some math:
You're getting roughly 1.5 : 1 to call on the flop, meaning you're making breakeven if you win this hand 40 percent of the time.
Well I assume it's not a bluff but he hasnt got the nuts here as well, you have 9 outs to a flush and 17 to a straight, if this guy has flush already you still have like about 30 percent to win, in case he has 2 pairs or a set you have something about 60 to win which is huge.

I would definitely call here, it's not a bubble and I guess you play to win not just mincash so yea clean call for me.
