Just want to do a reality check about raising and then calling a small 3-bet and another call in position with a small-ish pocket pair when it's another 80 chips to call for a 600 chip pot.

Generally, if I'm coming into a pot, I do not limp. This is a relatively tight table. I think that small pocket pairs are marginal to play from early position but it's early in the game and we all still have a lot of BBs.

SB very, very, very rarely 3bets--the sizing reflects this player's lack of knowledge about bet sizing and indicates a strong hand. BB is a loose and passive player without a great deal of positional awareness.

Given the action before it returns to me, and the hope of hitting a set and being able to get a lot of action I think I played this right and made the right fold on the flop. The Big Blind's bet indicates this player has hit the board (frequently donks the flop when it connects) and I have missed.

So, would you limp, raise, or fold this pair preflop?
Would you react differently to the flop bet from the Big Blind?

all looks good to me wp

the fact the 3better has a really strong range is great for us considering we're just setmining here. if we hit our set we're gonna get paid really often.

i would probably just limp but i'm not so sure that it's best thing to do...
Raise seems like a good option
Definitely wouldn't fold here

preflop limp is fine, but raise is bad game because there is always so many passive callers in the freerolls.. and simply fold to the 3-bet because you already invested so many chips looking only for a set..

flop easy fold, you have nothing in the multiway pot..

I'm not a fan of limping, so i like the raise. When he raise small, it is a easy call for you, but you're setmining. Post flop i also fold. Nothing wrong the way you played it.

I should have clarified that this isn't an actual freeroll. It was a CC MTT on pokerstars and I have a lot of hand history on many of the players. This was a tight table. And agree that I'm set mining and when I don't hit, it's an easy fold.

missed that it was a freeroll, so open limping would be way better.

but with new info raising is way better, cos you won't have many passive limpers at the table, mostly nits :)
