Hey MstrBlast3r..Is it 9 max Stt?I think preflop is a profitable shove with AJ suited..if lets say ur villain limps something around 25% of his range u can shove 77+,AJs+,AQo+ here..you are not that deep(16.1bb only) to iso raise and play post flop if u get called, and very often u will get called and miss the flop when SPR=1..i see also that your villains even its very small sample are very active (high VPIP)...As you played..i would call his bet and i would be all-in as you need 31% equity to call, and you have it as u have straight draw with 9 and King and overcard... :)..Well thats my opinion,if other guy more specialised at Sngs have other we can speak about it :)

rikoberto ... I realized I selected STT after I posted but couldn't edit the title to change it. This was a .55 buy in $25 Guarantee on ACR so it is really a small MTT.

Anyway the raise felt ok to me given position etc, but missing the flop and having a a check and then a loose player(sample size was not big) in front of me I was torn on if I should c-bet that flop. Then facing a pot size bet I struggle with the right play. All in all it just turned into a mess and I was curious what others thoughts might be on situations like this.

You didn't miss on the flop though, you actually hit it pretty good: a straight draw with A Q J T (needing k) and a straight draw with Q J T 8 (needing 9) and the ace for the overpair. I agree the call is a safe bet here with 11 outs or roughly a 23% chance of winning and the pot odds are 2:1 (about 50%). Next time if you hit on the flop with a draw, definitely c-bet to either try to get the villain to fold or call thinking you have something other than a draw and probably make it easier for you then calling big bets. Hope that helps, best of luck to you.

I would just shove preflop, as played I would shove on the flop.

Thanks for the insight. To be honest I missed the fact that I had 2 ways to the straight. That is poor reading of the board on my part, so I didn't count my outs correctly. First take away ...Read your hand correctly ... smh. I tend to over c-bet in marginal spots though and may be over correcting. It is a constant path of learning and adjusting. In this case had I read my hand it is really not that marginal I guess.

The way you played it, it was a shove on the flop, not a check.
Even against two-pair, set, you've around 32% equity. Against a made straight (J9), you've around 25% equity, but since you block a J, he has less
combinations of J9 in his range. Against a one pair, you've around 44% equity.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cumulatively, you'll have around 40-46% equity. So, I think the best play for you would have been to c-bet all-in (12bb effective).

Shove pre, if you are making a standard iso raise, go 3x.

Shove flop, worse case scenario you have 8 outs here.

With 15 big blinds and a limper I would just shove pre. Without the limper I would consider just doing a normal 2.2x raise at 15bb although thats right around my shoving cutoff point (without any previous action). However as played when you flop the double gutter with an over and a half you have to shove flop.
