I've tried playing normal poker. Tried playing very loose (garbage). Tried playing in between. Nothing I do seems to get me ahead.

Tonight I think I was a little tilted as this was my fourth micro tourney. With 2 free rolls and it seems I just keep getting garbage and when I do bluff I get put all in. Anyways this hand just took the cake. Everytime I did anything villian would raise me all in.

Sort of glad the pot was split because it is always better than losing your stack but I am starting to get annoyed.

When you called on the flop you were actually behind so I don't see any reason to be upset with this result.

The turned help and yeah it looked like you were going to scoop the entire pot.
However, assuming both aces where left in the deck, and that both jacks where left in the deck, and the last king was also left in the deck.

The river was one out of 5 possible cards that helped the your opponent get a split pot.

I've seen something that I would consider worse in live game.
Say your QQ get beat by your opponent holding AJ after the board completes for quads. In that case your opponents has quads with an ace high leaving your QQ inferior.

Keep your head up hopefully the variance will balance things out.

I was just frustrated. Normally I would have just folded after a flop like that because I have no idea where the last king would be.

I was going to raise pre but villian did it first so I flatted.

Villian 5x or there abouts bet the flop. The amount of the raise was suspicious to me. He either had nothing or was trapping. If he had the last king I would have expected all in. I raised his bet to pot and he went all in. I figured it was worth a 3rd of my chips in case it was a bluff which it was.

We were both semi-bluffing.

I saw the j on the turn and was excited. Then I saw the jack on the river and could not believe what just happened.

If the one card on the flop was different then fh. If the turn or river was not a j or q then fh. My ace block his a.

A full house on the felt.

The hand would not have busted me. I only had 1/3 of my chips in the pot.

Just a couple thoughts:

- you should be re raising a lot from the BB here. SB’s range is massive to try and steal these pots. As it turns out, he’s right on the top of his range. Still, he’s probably making the same bet with Ax, K9o, QTs, and suited connectors. You’ll get a lot of free chips with some aggression.

- You say you expected the shove if he had a K - why would you expect that? It’s a terrible play. A much more common play would be exactly what happened: value bet, and shove to a reraise. A king will want to get it all in, but a insta shove post flop would not be a good play by him. If that’s how you would play it, change that part of your game.

- you said you were both semi-bluffing, not exactly true. Obviously a king or pocket pair would be a stronger hand, but AQs with a chance to go runner, runner flush, is the best other hand. You are massively behind here, with three outs to win and three more to split.

- on that same note, you have a quite strong hand too, so I don’t hate the shove call, assuming we think our opponent is somewhat loose and aggressive (which you do).

- you said that you keep getting put all in on bluffs, and that you thought it was worth a third of your stack to see if he was bluffing. These are both massively -EV plays. You need to start thinking about what your opponent is putting you on. This hand is a great example. He shoved your reraise - there are VERY few bluffs here. He’s most likely got Ax, pocket pair, or K. Now your equity is still decent, but he’s almost never flipping over anything else.

If you are pushing a third of your stack with a weak hand like this, you are going to lose a lot of chips. Players just don’t completely bluff enough for that to be a positive EV play.

- when playing against a maniac who shoves all the time, try to see a flop heads up against him as cheaply as possible, then get it in when you have the nuts.

As a final thought, there is no silver bullet on how to play. Playing “normal” has its moments, as does going loose. If you consistently play the same way throughout a tournament (or multiple tournaments), thinking players are going to beat you.

With no stats or anything on you, based on what you’ve said, you are bluffing too much and not folding top pair/over cards enough.

Try not to get frustrated and play good poker - big pots when you have a big hand, small when you have a small

It looks like it was on tilt even as it was played, that call on the flop is awful.
Why not 3betou PF with Ajs? We are out of position, super deep game and a hand that can play very well after the flop.
