Hitting a miracle flop in a MW pot yet the turn isnt what i was hoping for.
I am a cash game player for the most part so i always make comparison on these spots cause in a cash game against most players i am betting the turn 90% of the time.
I believe a check on the turn is a better play cause we are both relatively deep so i protect my stack if i am beat. If i get raised it would be hard for me to let go of my hand.
Also i dont think he would call 3 streets of value bets with a naked ace.
I went for check call, check call line.
So my question is am i losing value somewhere along the way ?
Should i play these spots differently in MTTs or is this line optimal ?

Part of me likes the check on the turn for 3 reasons- 1. It gives him an opportunity to stab/bluff at the pot. 2. It controls the size of the pot. 3. If you bet there, you are correct, most players aren't calling the turn and river. But with NO stats on player, we can't make a better analysis of it... What were villains stats?

The negatives are- it gives him a free card and if he BOMBS the turn with a 3/4 pot bet, how do you react? pot was 11k, if he makes it 8k, you have a decision. BUT... you do have 133BB and i'm not sure of your image at this point, but I wouldn't mind getting his entire stack... If you lose the whole pot to him you still have a healthy stack... So after a little more thought and looking at stacks, I think I'm playing this one aggressively.

In the moment you played it okay, but you prob could have gotten more chips.

After his small bet on the turn however, were you tempted to bet the river for value? I do like the check call, and yes you prob lost some value with your set.

I just sat down and it was fourth or fifth hand maybe so villain stats and table image dont come much into play.
Table is generally weak and fishy so when he bets that small on the turn i dont really know what to think. It could be that he hit his flush and is now trying to get anything from me, or he just has TP or two pair and doesnt know what to do with it. Because of that i continued with my plan to check call on the riv as well.
I didnt think of stack sizes and that might be the only thing that makes good sense in betting the turn. But then again if i bet and a another diamond hits i would be in a very tough situation.
Maybe a lead on the river when a non diamond hits could be the best play.

You play it smart on the turn. In those kind of tournaments, you can't make too much efforts. You are with nice stack, the game is going perfect for you so there is not reason to push your luck. It's a real dangerous turn card that opens many chances. The check on the river is also smart.

I do play a more cautious and conservative game. I think i was the chip leader at the time and for the most part during the tourney.
Eventually my play ended up winning me this MTT.

It's always nice to enjoy such a decision when everything ends well. How many players were in the tournament. I am sure you've got another key hands during your game.

I think about 200 players.
There were many interesting hands but not thread worthy. Most of them were pre flop push/fold or in my case call/fold since i was the chip leader most of the time.

I like it. I would prefer a larger sizing on the flop though to polarize your range and make it look like a bluff. with 3 players in the pot you can probably size it up to 3/4 and still get a caller. otherwise check call turn and check call river is perfect. if you bet the turn then you dont get any value from his weaker hands and only get called if he has a flush. we dont want him to fold his worse hands
