$5 NLHE MTT Deep Stacked Rebuy: $$5 NLHE MTT Deep Stacked Rebuy: TT in the SB facing MP min raise and BTN shove

I was in the SB with TT, 25bb facing the action stated in the title. MP player had me covered, CO had 15bb. There were 18 players left, so ICM is becoming a factor. I decided to fold and play tight.

Was the correct play? I think i'm looking at a flip in the best case scenario most of the time, but will also be facing JJ+ a decent amount of the time.

Hi Shek,
It seems reasonable to wait and pick a better hand, tight is right for me. So here I like the fold, I probably would have done the same.
Good luck to you,
Brian

No, with 25bb it's too tight. I personally would never fold with TT under 40bb. BTn could shove a lot of small pocket pairs and Ax hands, maybe even high broadways like KQ or KJ. You shouldn't fold TT here.

I'd like to know how much the button shoved, but as described I wouldn't be folding the tens facing this action with 25BBs - middle position can be fooling around and the button could easily have smaller pairs?

If you have a read that they are both tight that might change it, but nothing mentioned makes me believe this is a bad spot for such a strong hand.

Also I don't think ICM should have any bearing on your decision with 18 players left, I guess you are saying you might fold and make a pay-jump?

Good luck!

I think this comes down to how tight you opponents are - theoretically, you should call because the button shove can easily be a worse pocket pair and you can flip against alot of AJ, AQ, AK. However, if this guy has been tighter than average you can find a fold.

I'd need to know how big the shove was but figure what hands he would shove with, calculate your equity against, and do what the chart says. . oh wait, we only have thirty seconds? I instacall

In the title you are stating BTN is shoving, and naming CO with 15BB stack, regardless of the position, I will guess that the shove was 15BB effective.
In that instance, it is ok to re-shove from the SB but never just call. That play (your re-shove) says pocket pair all over, so regardless of MP having you covered or not, he can call you only with QQ+ or maybe AK. JJ call would be debatable depending on the MP stack (having you covered by several BB or being the tournament chip leader).
Playing it tight is not bad or wrong, you have a stack that can easily survive several people dropping out.

I don't think you're wrong folding here but with the button's 15BB the player could have a wide range of hands. I wouldn't fault a call but it is more than half your stack and if you lose you're short stacked. Being close to the money then these shoves become the norm. just fold and wait it out or flip for it.

Im confused...
Hero stack was 25BB?
As i understand Button went AI after MP (>25 BB min bet on preflop) and everybody folded until hero?

What was Button stack size? Any additional information about Button?

Why does it even matter how much CO stack was, since he/she folded?

How many players in your table?

With a 15BB shove the buttons range can be pretty wide, I would be more worried about how big the MP raised. If the MP raised to 5BB+ I would fold, < 5 BB I would re-shove. When playing TT I want to play them heads up unless I am just set mining.
