$5.50 NLHE MTT: AKo on Bubble (While sitting In top 10) facing decision from CL for tourney life

I recall this spot, this guy, I swear, the man/women had something with them, that, I just couldn't beat. Ok so here's the thing right, I was clearly In a spot to ITM It (As their was just 1 left to go to ITM and that player was very short).

Now 1 of two things can happen here. I call and "Utterly crush" (Which really looked like I was utterly crushing this players range giving at the time) as It was bubble+a-couple of players we're very short and just hanging on for dear life, and It seemed like this guy/gal was taking perfect advantage of that (Bubble fear).

The other outcome that could happen Is I fold and just ITM and look for another spot later on If It comes my way.

My question Is, how many go for It and If so what's the reason, and how many fold and If so what's the reasoning behind It.

I opted for the fold, but honestly took everything In me to click that fold button as I wanted tooooooooooooo badly to just snap call and aim for that double up

As played: i would call, i feel villaine range contains more often then usually air hands (SB, plus effective stack is twice as yours, plus bubble fear). imo

But sometimes i would just open-shove aprox M 11, depends on dynamics. imo

Raise/folding here is Beyond LOL off 17bb.

You even say the SB was clearly abusing the bubble and would be shoving light here, so by making a standard raise you got him to do exactly what you were hoping for.

What I'm lost on is, if you don't want to raise/induce with AK here, then why not open shove preflop or heck, just fold!

If you are going to play this hand in this situation easier to just shove.
Can't raise fold here if you raise you got to be prepared to call which is a decision you should make before you even raise.
The fact you folded after raising means you should have just folded in the first place and save your blinds.
No shame in folding AK here just wait for bubble to pass and collect your cash and go from there. Only hands you are dominating are Ax Kx there is a lot weaker hands that have plenty equity that can make this aggressive play you are trailing to pocket pairs and suited connectors have about 40% equity.

if youre folding to an all in then you shouldnt raise in the first place. as played i think fold is okay in ICM, but im not happy about the situation. before you raised here you should think about what you would do if you faced a 3bet shove from any of the players behind you.

I agree with this, why fold if you got what you were looking for, but I can understand the fold, only because I was in a very similar position last night but I went for it and missed the cash, I was in the top 4 and the CL had about 7K more than me and on the button I shoved JJ and on his BB he called with A something, can't remember right now, I had a good rep on the table as I went to showdown a couple of times with AA, QQ, and AK after I hit an A on the flop and I won each hand easily.

He missed the flop and turn then hit an A on the river to put me out just short of the bubble. Top 8 got paid. We were 5 handed on my table and I was KO'd 11th.

Like trent said, you got what you wanted and folded, you have to work out why, were you expecting him to fold just because you were on the button and made a raise?

I assume you cashed. :top:

Big stacks will sometimes use some of their stack to try and KO people and chip up.

This is a snap call.
You mentioned that villain was being a bubble bully, what better hand to call the all-in with.
Another thing I noticed was that your pre-flop raise is too weak IMO, show some confidence with your strong hands.

Yup. Only reason to fold this for a money finish is if you satellite in to a big tourney and a min cash is still a big score for your bankroll. Otherwise, go for the double up and play for the win.
