Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 40/4/2.3

This is an interesting PLO tournament where there is a 30k add on at the 1500/3000 level so a lot of the players are less than 10bb deep.

I get a trash hand of Kd4d7s8h in the SB with two limps and decide to complete.

Here's the preflop action and flop:

Do you bet pot with a rainbow board top pair and a nut wrap?

I bet pot understanding I could be reraised by a set but was OK with that given my equity even vs a set.

Player HERO bets (16000)
Player VILLAIN3 allin (5500)
Player VILLAIN1 allin (33000)
Player VILLAIN2 folds

Villain3 is inconsequential in my view given stack size but Villain1 has VPIP of 40% PFR of 4% and AF of 2.3. We have some history and I've seen him jam light before.

Regardless at this point unless someone has another view, I think I am priced in to call.

The Pot is 53,400 and I need to call my remaining 15,900, so I need 30% equity to call off here.

Any views?

Once you limp and hit that flop the rest of the hand plays itself, leading pot and calling it off is really all you can do.

That being said I am not a fan of completing the sb here with 9bb - I'd be waiting for an unopened pot with connected cards and/or a high pair.

You caught an almost perfect flop for this hand here, but playing a three card hand OOP against two limps with a short stack is asking for trouble.

Good luck to you! :D

Thank you for your comment but I have to disagree. As noted in the original post, most of the field is shortstacked and this is a turbo with 5 min levels. Waiting for pseudo premiums (top 10% of hands) can be done but it is suboptimal to wait in this structure and unlike NLH completing does not reduce my fold equity.

There's 14k in the pot before I complete and I need to call 2000. My hand needs to have 14% equity in order fro this to be a profitable call.

There are a few thngs to consider rather than the raw equity:
1) will SB shove? unlikely bc he does not have fold equity with his stack but if he did, I would comfortably fold.
2) how much does being OOP reduce my equity?
Quite significantly but I think I have an edge on my field and as long as I'm willing to gamble a bit more in these higher variance spots, I will get to realize my equity

Here are the equities of the hands preflop from propokertools. I do not know V3's hand bc I folded but gave him/her a random hand

Omaha Hi Simulation
600,000 trials (Randomized)
Hand Equity Wins Ties
7s8h4dKd 16.13% 87,114 19,844
As4c3dQh 22.18% 129,448 7,409
Ad8dKh9h 37.81% 214,154 26,063
xxxx 23.88% 134,207 18,816

I have 16% equity with a worst case scenario being that my diamond flush draw is dominated. I think this is a profitable call over the long term.
