I raised JJ from EP. I get called by a LAG in the BB. Flop is KQ9.

Do you cbet here with a view to triple barreling?

Raise more preflop. Check/fold postflop unless the bet is very low.

I checked with the plan to check call most turn cards.

In retrospect, I probably should have bet small on the flop, to bet my range which hits this board hard as an EP raiser.

Triple barrel is not out of the question since I block the nuts.

As soon as I check, I cap my range to one pair hands and missed broadway and the player can put me on JJ, TT, AJ, AT, and smaller pairs ....giving him the green light to bluff.

t1riel, are you raising larger here due to stack depth or bc of the hand? I usually don't try to fork my range in these spots and maintain my 2.2x PFR size. Sometimes we miss, no big deal, in my view. I love JJ.

V donk leads the turn as expected. I called with my gutshot and 3rd pair.

Any views?

I would personally Check back the flop for the pot control and call the turn bet. But I think 1/3 of the pot bet on the flop is a better play and check back the turn if you get called on the flop.

I don't think a check on the flop necessarily means weakness, if it does that means you're playing relatively unbalanced. You should be incorporating some nutted hands in your check back range on the flop, as well as some middle and bottom pairs. I personally would try to check it down, as you might be bluffing with too many hands if you're bluffing with a lot of gutshots and third pairs. I understand the thought process, and it's probably easier on you with an aggro villain in the BB to just go for three barrels here.

However, I think a check back with a delayed cbet is probably ok in this situation. If you face turn aggression you can call one bet and if he barrels again on the river, then I would consider turning my hand into a bluff and check raise HUGE with nut blockers. But, tbh, I could go either way with a passive calling line and planning to raise river if faced with more aggression or triple barrel yourself. Either line is optimal, just depends on your mood and the villain I guess :D haha solid thought process though, I like it!

Here's the river. I block absolutely everything since the spades flush comes in (I hold (Js).

With the blockers I was gauging a ship the river move but the Villain took that play away by jamming river.

I folded but this has to be one of the hands I call with against certain villains in this spot. I realize I only have middle pair buit we block so much of a jamming range. Maybe V has AsTs.

Any views?

I think unless you have a soul read on Villain, I don't see how you can possibly call here. I know you block a lot of the nutted hands, but there are still some hands Villain can jam for value here that crush us. Would be a pretty sick one if you did call it off, but I think you're calling way too many hands from a GTO standpoint if you call that particular one here.

I agree with you, this would be a great hand to jam! But calling one...I don't think as much. Villain would have to be extremely lag here to call this off, cause what hands can he really be bluffing with?
