Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 38/25/3.8

First place is $230 and 2nd is $140-150.

The V and I had been battling for awhile with about even stacks to start and some swings in between.

V's numbers are above and was more aggressive than me at the FT and HU.

It is important to note that V had a 13% 3b, so his calling range is weak.

Here's the start of the hand

Game started at: 2017/12/14 17:38:13
Game ID: 1075811040 15000/30000 $1,000 GTD, Table 11 (Hold'em)
Seat 8 is the button
Seat 5: VILLAIN (1000302).
Seat 8: HERO (864698).
Player VILLAIN ante (4000)
Player HERO ante (4000)
Player HERO has small blind (15000)
Player VILLAIN has big blind (30000)
Player VILLAIN received a card.
Player VILLAIN received a card.
Player HERO received card: [Qd]
Player HERO received card: [Ad]
Player HERO raises (51000)
Player VILLAIN calls (36000)
*** FLOP ***: [5d Qh 4c]
Player VILLAIN checks
Player HERO bets (70000)
Player VILLAIN calls (70000)

Nothing too controversial here in my view.

*** TURN ***: [5d Qh 4c] [Jc]
Player VILLAIN checks

I decided to double barrel.

Player HERO bets (140000)

V's favorite spot to check raise was the turn with draws, K high, and two pair once but he never fired the river, so I got a ton of info on the river.

Player VILLAIN raises (375000)

V check raised again.

Rip or call?

Seems like we have no fold equity here at all, but it also is pretty true (in my mind at least) that people will make these size raises very light/with air when they think they can get a fold. I'm guessing he either has a combo draw or a flopped set (or air), so I don't hate jamming here and just hoping he has the draw. You can still get a fold sometimes here I think, but it's more likely he snaps and we just hope he has the draw(s). Depending on the dynamic HU, I'd feel pretty good about piling it in here.

Call. He is not calling your shove with a weaker hand.
If board does not improve on river, lead small. KQ and K10 villain would call there and can have this line.

If we flat the raise that's half our stack in the middle with no clue where we are. I think you either commit here or let it go. Calling then folding at some later point is just bad. Assign him a range of hands and proceed from there. Honestly, not too many ranges have us crushed here, so like I said, I'd jam it in there and cross my fingers.

I don't think anyone was saying we should call/fold.
Calling is to keep the player with their bluffs and weaker holdings.

I hate giving up the value of position, especially when V plays pretty honest on the river, but the problem is giving the river card "for free." I ripped and won the tourney.

V still had a lot of outs but they definitely but put themselves in a -EV situation.
