This hand was from a few days ago, figured I'd get some more opinions here after talking it over with some people and getting mixed opinions.

Blinds 30-60
Hero (UTG) ~5k in chips
V1 (UTG+1) ~5k in chips
V2 (Button) ~5k in chips

Readless here as Bovada is all anonymous and it's in the first 20 minutes of the tournament.

Hero is dealt QQ UTG, and 3x raises, UTG+1 shoves ~80bb, Button reshoves ~80bb and it folds back to me.

What is your play here with QQ early on facing this action and what range are we giving the overcaller? It's effectively my entire stack to call here, I know I am ahead of UTG+1 because he never rips KK+ here on 80bb. I feel it's a toss up against the overcall.

Button has to have a very limited range to call here i.e. AA, KK or, at a push, AK.

Lets say, for example, that you know UTG+1 has 99 and Button has AKs. QQ is going to be about 42% so a slight dog to the field. Mathematically this would be a call as you would be getting 3:1 but it is your tournament life so not sure I would want to make this call this early.

In reality can't see how button can have anything other than AA or KK to re-shove against an EP raise and a massive over-shove.

For me this is a fold.

Had a little look at some ranges and think it is pretty close. Below is with the buttons range at KK+ and AKs, if you put him any wider you obviously get better and better.

-equity-
UTG 25.60% { QdQh }
UTG1 16.51% { JJ-88, AKs, AKo }
BTN 57.89% { KK+, AKs }

With the numbers being pretty close other factors come into play. Do you want to risk it this early in the tournament when there will likely be better spots? Do you feel that there are some easy chips to be won at your table?

As we are never going to be better than ~40% favourite I think I would make a crying fold and hope to pick up better spots later.

early stage: should be snap fold(if you have edge of the field), but i do not mind the call (technically ok). imo

utg+1: probably preflop value hands like mid pocket pairs: 99+. imo
btn: JJ+,KA. imo

I would sickeningly fold. It's pretty rough to fold QQ preflop with 80bb in an online turbo, but this is one of the spots it's OK.

So...if you feel like tripling up this early would significantly increase your chances of winning the tourney (like more than triple your chances) then maybe it's worth the gamble.

But I've found when I play on Bovada it's generally pretty soft and I should be able to nearly double up without a showdown over the next several levels.

When a decision is close I tend to play/gamble if I feel my skill edge is minimal and I tend to fold if I feel my skill edge is significant.

Easy fold. Its still early because of the blinds.

Personally, I disagree when you said its a toss up. Remember, you have 2 jammers.

given the pot odds, the decision is close. most likely he is squarely ahead of 1 player, and squarely behind another player. But if AK is in the range of the 2nd player then this decision becomes quite close, actually.

still....I fold it. I don't personally think the 2nd jammer is all that likely to show up with AK.

Even though this might be close there is little need to risk all our stack at this stage of mtt with QQ. 80bb is huge and folding seems wise decision in such scenarios if we think long term. :willy:

I would snap off the first raiser. I'd been crushed too many times before doing that.

If it was like a $10 mtt though. I could see a call...maybe.

I think this is a relatively simple fold spot early in an MTT, especially 1st or 2nd blind level like this. Button overcall is strong 90% of the time. Would be different with a read, say UTG+1 has demonstrated an ability to do this light, especially in this position the buttons range widens dramatically. However at this stage with no info, easy fold, the triple up this early is not necessarily game changing anyway and there will be better spots further in the game, avoid the gamble I say and save your luck for when you need it much deeper in the tourney :p
