Pre Flop: (pot: 2.17 BB) Hero has A K

fold, fold, fold, MP+1 raises to 2 BB, Hero raises to 6 BB, fold, fold, BB calls 5 BB, fold

Flop: (15.17 BB, 2 players) 5 5 3
BB checks, Hero bets 10.02 BB, BB raises to 45.8 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 35.78 BB

Thoughts on this.

I guess this early I could and should probably just fold.

Get into these spots sometimes and usually opt for the safe fold. I just want to know it is correct decision even though I called here.

Opponent is playing 8/5 but calls a 3-bet cold?

This didn't strike you as strong? Don't think I would c-bet here... I'd try to check it down and fold to a bet.

If you want to c-bet and fold to further action... sure, but it doesn't need to be a big bet.

Calling the shove is silly imo.

Good luck to you! :D

Really horrible call on that flop shove. I would just check back that type of board with AK, the only cards that would help your hand on turn are A or K which are also obvious cards, so you probably wouldn't get anymore money anyway from QQ and Something like KQ AQ would fold the flop.

You just gave up your chips without having a ready hand for the flop, and playing against the "rock".

I would check back that flop. And even if I C-bet (which after looking at the villains stats, I won't), I would C-bet smaller. Think how much would you have bet with JJ+? I would lean towards a 5/6 BB C-Bet. Then it balances your value C-Bets with air C-bets.

After the villain shoves over the C-bet? Just fold. You are drawing to maximum 6 outs which gives you a 24% equity (at best).

I usually feel conflicted about C-betting with overcards, but you did have a back door straight draw as well so I think it's okay. Calling the push seems unneccesarily risky though.
