9 left out of 921 players. 6max game. 9th gets $24 while 6th gets around $50 & 1st gets around $300
I was around 7th when this happened.

pokerstars - 2000/4000 Ante 500 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 4 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4: http://www.pokertracker.com

Hero (BB): 49.25 BB
CO: 24.27 BB (VPIP: 18.52, PFR: 16.67, 3Bet Preflop: 6.25, Hands: 55)

4 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2 BB) Hero has Jc Ac
fold, BTN raises to 2 BB, fold, Hero raises to 6.5 BB, BTN raises to 88.08 BB and is all-in,

Good play there of folding but I agree with above. 3bet bigger especially because you are out of position.

Are you 3b folding this due to ICM? Or do you do this at any time in the tourney???

Not really because of ICM, just i dont 3b call 50bb AJs here unless i see something which will give me a reason.

Not the best play by your opponent. He might have small pair or AA. But according to ICM i think it's a fold.

I would prefer a flat call preflop. You do not want to 3 bet and get 49 BB in pre, but your hand is very strong. In this situation, ICM, stack size, blinds etc, you might want to have a wider limp/flat range

I got A LOT to learn about icm but here is my take on the hand. I am 3 betting a button raise 100% of the time in this spot, espesially since we are four handed. I think the size of your three bet is fine aswell. When button shoves it kinda put us in a difficult situation. I dont think its that clear of a fold that others think. That beeing said I wouldnt call if this is the first time he 4 bets, beeing this deep.

When it comes to the icm part I dont think i apply here. The pay jumps cant be that significant, and there are no short stack (on our table anyway). I dont think you should worry to mutch about icm i tournaments, as you should always play for the win in my opinion (including on the bubble, the "real" money are in top 3).

Icm is crucial in satellites structures were for instance, 1-8 place get the same prize and 9 place got nothing. Icm is also very important i sit and go`s. Unlike a turny the times you win/get top positions wont make up for it, if you bubble a lot.

Just my humble opinion

We'd need to know the payouts and chip counts to get a proper ICM solution from a tool like ICMizer.

Generally ICM is going to advise you to fold more hands late in tourneys than you would in a cash game.

I'd fold here. You are behind the button's range, and there's not enough in the pot to justify risking your tournament life.
