Your stack size is what is key to this hand. With 18BBs to start the hand and being in the SB you really dont have any calls of raises. If a player raises in front of you, or multiple as in this case, the decision is to either jam or fold. You are behind here at times when someone has a big pair but so what? With this hand you had your decision to jam or fold and I think jamming is correct. You have some fold equity and most of the time you do not expect to get called by both players (when you do you are usually screwed). I like the play here and I think the jam is the right move.

Just for the record with a raise and call in front I dont think folding is bad by any means. There is merit to it as I said you are behind sometimes but I feel jamming is better as it should make one or both of them fold often and you have equity against two over cards on the occasions when you are called by one player.

18bb, standard jam. Don't ever talk yourself into folding here.

Could call some lower pairs vs a minraise and a flat. But 99 is too strong. 3betting is out of the question (stack is too short). So it's Jam/flat/fold. We're OOP, with a strong hand so just jam. This both generates a lot of fold equity (huge for us on this stack), and at the same time makes us realise our equity. It's not really a spot we want to take postflop.

But the main argument is just -> we got a strong hand, we want to raise.

Preflop, I actually like a fold there.

There is an argument for folding, but the call seems fine too. Sometimes we are behind a bigger slow played pair, but more often both fold, and otherwise we are in a race.

This is a perfect spot you can't really go wrong.

You jam. You get fold equity on a squeeze play. You also still a coin flip on a call. Assuming someone calls you light with 77+

You fold. You don't really get hurt folding. It is one had.

You call. You hit a set, you are in good position. You get a board that is 3, 4, 8 or 5,5,7, you are looking pretty strong.

Thank you for your post. I like the all in preflop. Out of position against two opponents who only have 2BB each in the pot a shove makes sense. Take there position away and allow yourself to take the pot down preflop. If your called then you have decent showdown value. In this case surprisingly both call and you find paradise on the river. I think you played this well. Good Luck

Good Luck To All:cool:

99 is borderline, because its an UTG open. 88 or lower I probably just fold. Stacks are to shallow to call for a setmine. Reads will also matter. If UTG is a huge nit, you can fold. The field caller is not nearly as important, since he usually has a capped range. Always nice to run good of course :)

You have no other option. You played correctly with 99. You cannot throw it away. Therefore, you played as standard with 18bb.
