£150 NLHE MTT Deep Stacked: Nut straight facing float river bet on paired board

Early stage live MTT, rebuy available,10-max

BTN (Hero) ~ 150BB, quite new to the table
SB: ~125BB, 60ish player, previous postflop play quite straightforward
BB: ~100BB

LJ open raised to 4BB, BTN called with :6d4::7c4:, SB called and BB called.

Flop: (pot 17.5BB)
:5c4: :8h4: :9d4:

SB checked, BB bet 11.7BB, LJ folded, SB acting out of turn and called 11.7BB, BTN re-raised to 35BB, SB called and BB folded.

Turn: (pot 99BB)
:as4:

SB checked.Hero bet 40BB and SB called.

River: (pot 179BB)

:ah4:

SB led all in and Hero called.

Given SB acted out of turn previously and rather straight-forward, I think highly unlikely he had a set on the flop as he would be likely to raise or re-raise during flop. I guessed a very competent player could have TJ in bluff range but probably not this one.

1. Would you call SB all in?
2. Would you 3bet preflop to thin the field or fold this hand or play differently?

SB held Ac9c

Hello quant1986,

Before I hit the reveal, I had decided fold. I will wait until there are some more comments before I talk about the spoiler.

Good luck to you,
Brian

Very interesting hand, and an interesting run out. I mean that flop is what really bugs me. If I was to act out of turn, and get raised on afterwards, I am folding so much there. In the SB position, i am folding things like a TP but probably re-raise all in with sets.
I have no idea what to put SB on considering that dumb action on the flop.
I'd guess he slow played a set, probably set of 5s...
That being said, he hits his boat on the river, but it is still hard to fold.
Given the calculations, if you fold, you remain with 45BB which is a reasonable stack to continue playing a tournament, but if it is a rebuy tournament, I am calling and unwillingly preparing money for rebuy...

Probably have to fold

I haven't read the spoiler yet. The way the hand played this guy could have A9 and all the sets. It's unlikely he floated with AK because he didn't reraise pre. He could have also had A5 or A8 suited with backdoor flush draws on the flop. The turn action is super weird because two pair or a set would usually be getting it in. Maybe the fact that he called out of position and then you reraised, he might have felt like he was already in the hand with JT.

He played the hand pretty weird but there's really nothing you beat. Since there were no flush draws on the turn, a missed combo draw wasn't possible, and playing a naked straight draw like that is probably unlikely on the turn.

One hand that could make sense with all the action is if he was trapping with AA pre. Quads would be unlikely but there's a small chance and if he decided to slow play AA pre, then that's a hand that definitely makes sense just smooth calling your turn reraise.

It's also a real possibility that you had the same hand. He could realistically play a flopped straight this way.

All that said, I think folding is best.

So this is pretty normal to call 67o on button after MP bet 4BB?

On villain perspective he/ she never gonna believe hero are holding made straight on flop. imo As played i am going to take it down right now on flop, i believe hero 3bet is too small vs 2 villains and should gij over the top and be done with it ("sometimes lose, always win") its rebuy. imo. And if gij does not like make it bigger 3bet at least t45k plus plus. And turn there is a lot money to be taken and should jam it in right now, make them to pay as much they are willing to pay and since villain just cold called on flop and turn is a blank, hey villain are already commited and willing to pay all their stack for drawing a house or whatever he/she have.

As played on river: i am folding. imo But this hand would never get into river where i have to decide call or fold.

Preflop fold, especially when someone raises to 4bb. postfolp hand played itself, there is nothing you can do. Unlucky.
