I don't often play trappy lines like this one - can't decide if I like it or not

This is not a great spot, since you were the two table chip leaders, so ICM play a pretty big role here. However that being said you created a 3 SPR pot, and you have an overpair against a LAG. So I dont see any way, you can avoid stacking off. Its just a question of, which is the best way to stack off.

With this line you give him a lot of rope to bluff, but the downside is, sometimes his bluffs get their on the river, and you end up paying him off. This time you were lucky to catch a really clean river card, but I think, I lean towards either simply betting the turn or check-raising all in.

I guess your intention is to trap him and give him the chance to bluff on the turn.
Pretty fancy play, especially since you just call the turn.
Many scary cards out there for you. With KK/AA it would be much better of course.
Were you ready to check call any river? or you just checked again because of the blank card? and were you hoping for him to bet or check back? xD
I think that just calling the turn was way to risky to put yourself in a very difficult situation on the river.
I prefer to put him on the pressure with check/shove on turn and hope he doesn't have any astronomical 1010 or 89s or trappy overpair lol.

Why did you stop betting on the turn? He always get free card with a worst hand.
