Online tourney.
Villain is aLAGish player. 36/23 with 15.2 3bet over 84 hands.
Have a note about him calling a 17BB shove with 10Jo.

Blinds are 150/300 with 40 ante.
Villain is in EP. Folds to him and he shoves 5821 into the pot.
Folds around to hero in BB with :as4::qs4:
Hero has 6714.

Call or fold?

Generally I call.

If you are near the bubble or near a big pay jump ICM considerations might dictate a fold.

The fact that the raise is from EP is a concern.

If I have a read that his aggression is almost always from late position pre-flop, then I think about folding. But you would need to have about 100 hands to make that read.

The stats that you do have are fishy, and fish often will not have a strong awareness of the importance of position.

We just entered the money.
Do this change your opinion in any way?

Ya i call quicker than i can snap. Sorry for your loss though. Did he have kings?

I called. Didn't snap. Thought about it for a second.
Good call - he had KQ. The fact he hit a K on the river is annoying but not relevant.
Just wanted to know that I'm not wrong in calling in this spot.

I agree qith the call.. pretty easy but with your note its good to take down the positions too. Like "calls 17bb shove from SB in BB" is a lot different than "calls 17bb shove from EP in MP"

Excellent idea.
I usually do this but calling 17BB with J10o is still very loose, no? (even BB vs SB and assuming he was not over 100BB deep).

It is damn loose assuming hes Not in the blinds, 17bb shove from Sb vs Bb is quite normal, considering its profitable to shov almost anything in this Position at some point soon.
So Position plays quite a Rolle here as well id say.
